Full Job Description
The Role

We are hiring a VP of Product to own product vision, strategy, and execution at SLM. You'll report directly to the CEO and serve as a key member of our senior leadership team.

Over the past few years, there have been three major, previously distinct workstreams that we have, by design, now aligned and intertwined based on what we believe will have the best product-market fit for our clients in the future: 1) Our back end data and attribution platform that powers all reporting at the company 2) Our client facing print and mail platform, Poplar 3) Our end to end, agency-level service and account management model.

In this role, you'll be responsible for refining the overall client experience, from design principles and navigation to onboarding, feature adoption, UI performance, and consistency. You will work cross functionally with our product, data, account management, and engineering teams as well as directly with clients and internal teams to identify their needs, weigh tradeoffs, and create an appropriate short term and long term roadmap. Our goal is to craft a truly exceptional, market-leading experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the product team, including multiple PMs and product design
  • Work closely with our VP of engineering and team of engineers to develop/execute product roadmaps, and provide guidance and validation during development and testing.
  • Map key feature requirements and business needs to establish roadmaps for both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Confirm product direction by analyzing and staying current on both market and product trends in the industry.
  • Have continuous dialogue with clients to understand their needs and deliver technical solutions and implementations to drive their growth and success long term.
  • Work on cross-functional teams with multiple stakeholders, and steering engineering, design and marketing managers to drive the most impactful product.
  • Monitor product adoption, proactively identifying opportunities and making actionable recommendations to drive product effectiveness.
  • Analyze and report on performance, prospective status and future needs of partners to executive and internal teams.

Requirements:
  • 8+ years in product management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, ideally within the media, advertising, or technology sectors. Experience with data-driven platforms is a must.
  • Ability to define and communicate a compelling product vision and strategy that aligns with business goals.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to define a deliverable, creating a project timeline, prioritizing features, and schedule for implementation.
  • Implementation-focused, and ready to roll up your sleeves and make an impact at a small fast growing startup.
  • Be comfortable working across our product, both on front-end client facing features as well as backend heavy APIs and data pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical skills and an interest in statistics and data analysis.
  • Be a strong voice for our clients and partners. Understand stakeholder needs and work to deliver impactful product improvements.

What we offer
  • Base salary range for this position is $190,000 - $220,000 and is based upon experience and other factors.
  • Hybrid role based out of our NYC office
  • Ownership and growth opportunities
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Robust benefits package
  • A fun culture including: catered meals, team events, and happy hours
  • The opportunity to work with a group of passionate, humble, and kind team members

If you're looking to be part of something new that is transforming an industry, this is the role for you. You will be empowered to think like an entrepreneur by coming up with new ideas, testing, implementing, and then scaling them quickly.
