Position Summary

The Vice President of Customer Platforms provides both strategic direction and hands-on leadership across the architecture, development, validation, and deployment of scalable digital platforms, customer-facing applications, and core commerce systems. This role drives the adoption of secure code, modern engineering practices, and leads digital transformation at scale within a complex retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for all software development functions, including digital applications, mobile platforms, and eCommerce systems.
  • Define and execute the enterprise software development strategy aligned with business growth, omnichannel retail, and customer experience goals.
  • Lead large, distributed engineering teams responsible for building and supporting high-availability, cloud-native systems.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives, modernizing legacy platforms and accelerating adoption of modern architectures, tools, and practices.
  • Partner closely with Enterprise, Infrastructure, Security, and Business leaders to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions.
  • Establish and enforce secure engineering standards, best practices, and governance across the organization.
  • Build and mentor senior engineering leaders and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and third-party development partners.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field coupled with 10+ years' experience.
  • Deep expertise with AWS and cloud-native architectures, including scalable, highly available systems.
  • Strong knowledge of digital applications, mobile application development, and enterprise eCommerce platforms.
  • Broad understanding of modern programming languages and frameworks, including newer languages and paradigms, as well as proficiency in Java.
  • Experience with modern development practices such as CI/CD, DevOps, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical depth with executive-level strategic leadership

Demonstrated ability to:
  • Proven experience leading large-scale software development organizations in a complex, fast-paced retail or consumer-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise digital platforms and customer-facing systems at scale.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Track record of driving transformation while maintaining operational stability.
  • Experience implementing cloud based (SAAS)
  • POS and Shop Management systems in the automotive services industry is a plus.
