The Legal team is responsible for managing the legal affairs of the company, including providing legal counsel across the organization, handling disputes, and creating and enforcing intellectual property.
The primary role of Legal Counsel function is to advice and counsel on all ongoing activities related to the organization's legal affairs, within a region. Key deliverables include, providing legal support and advice on the commercial and non-commercial matters, consumer and competition law issues, global privacy law and regulations, advertising regulations etc. Overseeing legal defence actions and representing ResMed in matters before courts, government agencies, or other authorities to protect the organization's legal and business interests.
Let's talk about Responsibilities- The primary objective of Legal Counsel specialization within Legal Counsel Job Family is to provide legal advice and counsel to the business.
- Key responsibilities include providing legal support and advice on compliance, regulatory, commercial, consumer, contentious, and competition law issues, global privacy and data security laws and regulations, advertising regulations, mergers & acquisitions, strategic collaboration, and investments.
- Working closely with the Intellectual Property and Global legal teams to ensure alignment and consideration of global legal requirements.
- Supervise outside counsel on issues and projects outsourced by the legal department, including export/import controls and similar projects.
- Additional responsibilities require knowledge of general corporate matters, corporate governance, securities filings, license agreements, employment law, immigration law, and contract management, among other topics.
- Focuses on the development and implementation of strategic and operational objectives that help achieve orgnisational mission. Implements organization strategies through the effective direction and management of employees and resources.
- Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers.
- Interactions frequently involve highly visible activities such as speaking to or negotiating with customers, influencing other executives and/or academics, lobbying regulators or policy makers and representing the organization on matters of great significance to the organization.
- Directs and controls the activities of a significant, complex & sizable business/function through multiple levels of management within the company.
- Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and approving changes to methods and practices.
- Leads a team of Directors and/or high-level individual contributors.

- Minimum of 15 years of related experience.
- Develops strategic plans and participates in development of corporate methods and priorities.
- Has in-depth knowledge of the company, competitive environment, technology and economic or social implications of organization activities.
- Approves budgets and schedules to meet corporate requirements.
