Full Job Description
VP Enterprise AI Enablement

Position Summary

The VP Enterprise AI Enablement is a senior, enterprise-wide leadership role responsible for accelerating the effective adoption and practical use of artificial intelligence across the organization, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

The role is designed to drive measurable improvements in productivity, speed, accuracy, decision quality, and professional execution through the disciplined and widespread application of AI across all functions of the business. This includes-but is not limited to-operations, engineering, supply chain, finance, legal, human resources, commercial functions, and executive decision-making.

This position has been established as a Board-level strategic priority to ensure the company remains competitive, expands margin, and continues to perform at a level consistent with a global industry leader.

Organizational Context
  • Approximately $2.5B in annual revenue
  • Multinational manufacturing and industrial enterprise
  • Strong focus on earnings performance, operational excellence, and competitive differentiation
  • Complex, globally distributed organization with mature leadership and functional depth

Role Scope and Intent

This role is focused on enterprise enablement and value creation, not technology ownership.

The VP will:
  • Drive adoption of AI as a practical business tool
  • Establish disciplined but lightweight processes for identifying, validating, and scaling high-value AI use cases
  • Build momentum and enthusiasm for AI usage across the organization
  • Ensure senior leadership is informed, aligned, and actively engaged
  • Operate with a small footprint, leveraging influence, judgment, and internal partnerships rather than large teams, and evolve into a fit-for-purpose team over time as enterprise adoption, value realization, and scale justify additional dedicated resources

The role will not:
  • Own or manage IT infrastructure, systems, or cybersecurity
  • Serve as a CIO, CTO, CDO, or successor to those roles
  • Build or operate large technical teams
  • Function as a research or experimentation lab

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise AI Enablement
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact AI use cases across all business functions
  • Translate AI capabilities into practical, repeatable applications that improve day-to-day work
  • Promote consistent, responsible, and effective use of AI tools across the enterprise
  • Focus on outcomes such as productivity improvement, error reduction, cycle-time compression, and improved decision quality

Leadership Alignment and Engagement
  • Educate and advise the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board on AI-related opportunities and implications
  • Secure senior leadership sponsorship and commitment to enterprise adoption
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to functional leaders on where and how AI can create value

Operating Model and Execution
  • Establish a structured yet agile framework for:
    • Use-case intake and prioritization
    • Rapid testing and validation
    • Scaling successful applications
  • Operate effectively with minimal dedicated staff, relying on internal champions and cross-functional collaboration
  • Maintain a strong bias toward speed, clarity, and tangible results

Cultural Impact
  • Encourage curiosity, experimentation, and responsible innovation
  • Help embed AI usage into standard workflows rather than isolated initiatives
  • Raise overall standards of professionalism, consistency, and execution quality across the organization

Measures of Success

Success in this role will be demonstrated by:
  • Broad-based adoption of AI tools and methods across functions
  • Tangible improvements in productivity, efficiency, and decision quality
  • Visible engagement and advocacy from senior leadership
  • A repeatable, sustainable approach to AI-enabled value creation
  • Enhanced competitive positioning and margin contribution

Candidate Profile

Experience
  • Demonstrated track record driving enterprise-wide AI adoption and business value creation
  • Experience operating effectively in complex, multinational organizations
  • History of delivering results with limited staff and high autonomy
  • Prior success influencing senior leaders without direct authority
  • External candidate with a proven pattern of execution in comparable environments

Potential backgrounds may include senior transformation roles, advisory or consulting leadership with execution responsibility, or operator/founder profiles with experience inside large enterprises.

Capabilities
  • Strong understanding of practical AI applications and limitations
  • Ability to prioritize high-value opportunities and avoid low-impact activity
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Sound business judgment and a strong orientation toward measurable outcomes

Personal Attributes
  • Highly credible with senior executives and functional leaders
  • Pragmatic, disciplined, and results-oriented
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity while maintaining focus and momentum
  • High standards for quality, professionalism, and execution
  • Low ego, high accountability, and strong personal integrity
