Posting Description

Overview:

The VP, Business Technology for Ground Control functions as the key technology partner to Newport Private Wealth leadership and leads the technology roadmap and delivery for the business. The role contributes to pinpointing where technology is needed, collaborates on solutions with enterprise technology teams, and ensures those solutions drive measurable operational and client outcomes.

This leader will bridge Ground Control's distinct business management framework with Wealthspire's enterprise platforms and strategic direction. The role focuses on unifying and refining workflows across the U.S. and U.K. It seeks to minimize manual tasks, boost data quality and reporting, and expand the business without sacrificing client responsiveness.

Ground Control Business Priorities
• Develop a cohesive technology roadmap for Ground Control throughout the United States and United Kingdom, while considering local operational and regulatory requirements.
• Improve and automate high-volume business management workflows, including onboarding, service delivery, approvals, transaction processing, financial operations, reporting, and exception management.
• Reduce fragmented tools and manual handoffs by connecting business workflows to Wealthspire enterprise platforms, shared data, and integration capabilities.
• Strengthen business data ownership, reporting consistency, and access to client service, operational performance, capacity, and risk.
• Partner with leaders and frontline teams to preserve high-touch client service while increasing scalability, control, and operational resilience.

Core Responsibilities
Business Collaboration and Opportunity Pipeline
• Function as the key technology liaison to the business leadership group, building a strong grasp of strategic focuses, operational obstacles, and growth aims.
• Establish and manage an ordered stream of technology-focused opportunities for the business, aligning current necessities with the extended platform roadmap.
• Develop clear problem statements, expected outcomes, and initial value estimates, including cost savings, capacity creation, risk reduction, client experience, and revenue impact.
• Represent business priorities in enterprise technology planning, investment decisions, and roadmap governance.

Solution Definition and Product Shaping
• Translate business needs into clear requirements, use cases, process designs, and measurable outcomes that delivery teams can act on.
• Develop solutions collaboratively with Enterprise Applications, Data and Analytics, AI and Automation, Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure groups.
• Apply a build, buy, and integrate approach, using enterprise platforms and reusable capabilities wherever they can meet the business need.
• Ensure proposed solutions align with the business operating model and the broader Wealthspire technology and data strategy.

Delivery Partnership and Roadmap Execution
• Own the business roadmap and remain accountable for clarity of scope, business decisions, collaborator involvement, readiness, and value realization.
• Partner with product, program, engineering, data, and vendor teams through design, testing, implementation, and stabilization.
• Identify dependencies, risks, and decisions early and promote timely resolution with business and technology leaders.
• Coordinate related initiatives so the business experiences a coherent set of capabilities rather than disconnected technology projects.

Data Operations and Business Reporting
• Own business-facing data, reporting, and analytics outcomes for the assigned business.
• Define critical metrics, reporting requirements, data ownership expectations, and data quality priorities with business leaders.
• Work alongside enterprise data teams to advance the quality, availability, consistency, and usability of business data.
• Promote governed self-service reporting and a common understanding of business measures.

Innovation, AI, and Automation
• Identify practical opportunities for incorporating workflow automation, integration, data, and AI to improve client and employee results.
• Lead focused discovery, experimentation, and pilots with clear hypotheses, success measures, and human accountability.
• Help the business adopt approved enterprise AI and automation capabilities while aligning with security, privacy, legal, and governance requirements.
• Convert successful experiments into sustainable operating capabilities with documented ownership and support.

Adoption and Value Achievement
• Develop business readiness and adoption plans with operating leaders, subject matter experts, communications, and training partners.
• Ensure new capabilities are embedded into day-to-day workflows and supported by clear process ownership.
• Assess adoption, usage, service quality, and realized value post-launch; incorporate the findings to refine the solution and roadmap.
• Convey progress, tradeoffs, risks, and outcomes clearly to business and technology leadership.

Accountability
• Quality, prioritization, and business endorsement of the Ground Control technology roadmap and opportunity pipeline.
• Business readiness, acceptance, and continued use of delivered capabilities across the United States and United Kingdom.
• Measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, service quality, capacity, controls, data usability, and business performance.
• Ensuring Ground Control priorities are consistent with Wealthspire enterprise technology, data, security, and architecture standards.

What This Role Does Not Own
This role is responsible for business outcomes, priorities, requirements, readiness, adoption, and value realization. It works alongside, but does not substitute, the enterprise teams responsible for these areas:
• Enterprise technology strategy, architecture standards, or platform engineering.
• Infrastructure, cybersecurity operations, DevOps, service desk operations, or enterprise technology governance.
• Enterprise data platform engineering or data pipeline development.
• Enterprise AI governance or enterprise-wide training programs.
• Independent technology procurement or vendor commitments outside established enterprise governance.

Leadership Profile
• Strong business orientation with the technology fluency to shape practical solutions and challenge assumptions constructively.
• Ability to translate between executives, frontline business teams, product leaders, data teams, engineers, and external partners.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional change, driving adoption, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
• Sound judgment in balancing local business needs with enterprise standards, reuse, risk, and long-term scalability.
• Clear, credible communicator who can frame decisions, build alignment, and maintain momentum through ambiguity.
• Operates with accountability, urgency, curiosity, and a sustained focus on business value.

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Typically 10 or more years of progressive experience in business technology, product management, transformation, operations, consulting, or a related field.
• Experience partnering with senior business leaders to develop roadmaps, define investments, and deliver cross-functional initiatives.
• Familiarity with contemporary enterprise platforms, data and analytics, workflow automation, integration, and applied AI.
• Experience in wealth management, financial services, professional services, or another regulated, client-focused environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience leading initiatives across multiple locations, operating groups, or countries is preferred.

Success Metrics
• A clear, prioritized roadmap endorsed by Ground Control and Technology leadership.
• Reduced manual work, duplicate entry, process variation, and avoidable exceptions in targeted workflows.
• Improved cycle times, service consistency, operational capacity, and user experience.
• Increased uptake and continued engagement with key enterprise platforms and provided solutions.
• Improved data quality, reporting availability, and confidence in key business measures.
• Documented cost savings, cost avoidance, risk reduction, and revenue or capacity impact.

Role Objective
Develop a consistent collaboration framework that transforms Ground Control priorities into scalable and widely embraced technology solutions. This approach supports business expansion in the United States and United Kingdom while enhancing service, efficiency, data quality, and oversight.
