Job Description

SAIC is looking for a Senior VMware Engineer. This position is in support of the Department of State (DOS) as a part of the Vanguard 2.2.1 contract. The Vanguard 2.2.1 program provides transparent, interconnected systems and security support for the Department of State (DOS) DT program. The DT program enables the Department of State to successfully carry out its foreign policy mission by providing enterprise architecture design, engineering, operations and maintenance support services for data center services, desktop computers, servers, networks, firewalls, voice and data communications and other unique enterprise applications.
The candidate will be responsible for the development of Virtualization solutions utilizing VMWare and Storage technologies. The candidate will research, analyze, evaluate and integrate as necessary new and emerging technologies in order to find ways to deliver a superior IT environment to the bureaus in a cost effective and secure manner. The candidate will support the continuing goal of incorporating these innovative technologies into the Department's equipment modernization program.

This role is onsite in Springfield, VA and may require some local travel.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational engineering support to enterprise-level solutions using virtual server hosting, and Dell storage technologies.
  • Provision Virtual Machines and patches to the software and hardware hosting infrastructure.
  • Update system and process documentation and user guides as needed diagrams and SOPs as needed.


Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • Red Hat Linux and RHEL Satellite Server
  • Senior-level knowledge of VMWare and vSphere design, integration, and deployment.
  • Knowledge or training on VMware and ESX 7.0+ deployment, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Windows engineer or administrator experience (Active Directory, GPOs, and PowerShell scripting)
  • Experience leading system integration projects as the technical lead.
  • Experience working with customers to capture/document requirements.

Required Clearance:
  • US Citizenship.
  • Active Top Secret clearance.

Desired:
  • VMware 8 Experience
  • Experience configuring VMware NSX
  • LAN/WAN networking experience
