Full Job Description
Who you are:

A Visual Design Associate Manager who brings strong conceptual thinking and high craft standards to every project and discipline. You contribute meaningfully to the program's discipline tracks, phases, and visual design direction on your engagements. You execute and shape the aesthetic language, design system, and visual output across touchpoints and program phase outputs such as research, strategy, and UX, under a lead's guidance. You are developing your ability to drive the day-to-day creative workstream with oversight from your lead and support from your junior team. You are also beginning to take on mentoring and coaching responsibilities within the team. You embrace AI as a creative enabler and use it actively in your workflow. You build trusted relationships with clients and collaborators and connect visual decisions to brand strategy and project goals.

The work:

In this role you will have accountability across three dimensions:

  • Client Delivery:

  • Contribute to and help shape the visual design direction on engagements (internal or client) from concept through delivery, supporting quality, aesthetic cohesion, and adherence to project timelines.

  • Think conceptually and translate briefs, brand strategy, and audience insights into compelling visual executions, with growing ability to develop and defend an original visual point of view.

  • Produce high-quality visual design work across brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital experiences, with a strong command of craft and attention to detail.

  • Hands-on and self-directed: take ownership of your workstream, make considered and purposeful design decisions, and deliver production-ready output with minimal redirection.

  • Use AI tools actively in your own workflow to accelerate concepting, iteration, and production, and contribute to the team's evolving AI-enabled ways of working.

  • Engage confidently in client and stakeholder conversations, communicating your design rationale clearly and beginning to develop your presence as a trusted creative voice.

  • Business Development:

  • Document and share how AI tools are changing your workflow, contributing to the practice's evolving understanding of AI-enabled visual design.

  • Support the development of proposals and case studies by contributing project work, process documentation, and design narratives that showcase our visual design capabilities.

  • Stay attuned to internal needs, client needs, and creative opportunities on your engagements, flagging potential areas for deeper work or expanded scope to your lead.

  • People & Practice Development:

  • Support and informally mentor junior team members, sharing feedback, creative references, and ways of working that help them grow their visual craft.

  • Be an active and engaged member of the Visual Design Craft community, contributing to shared resources, community discussions, and the ongoing development of the discipline.

Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in Visual Design spanning a range of industries, brand types, platforms, and visual contexts.
  • 2+ years:
    • contributing to visual design engagements end-to-end, from creative concepting and visual strategy through to production-ready delivery.
    • producing brand identities, design systems, typography, motion, illustration, and digital UI that demonstrate a strong and developing visual voice.
    • delivering high-fidelity visual work with strong attention to detail, including pixel-perfect deliverables and developer-ready specifications.
    • Experience providing feedback and informal guidance to junior designers, with a growing ability to help others develop their craft and creative confidence.
    • Experience working in agile and cross-functional environments, collaborating with product designers, product managers, engineers, and strategists to deliver cohesive experiences.
    • Grounding in user experience (UX) principles that informs your visual design decisions, understanding how design guides users intuitively while expressing a coherent brand point of view.
    • Experience contributing to scalable design systems that ensure visual consistency across products, platforms, and channels.
    • Comfort using AI tools in your visual design practice, from concept generation and mood-boarding to rapid iteration, and openness to evolving AI-enabled ways of working.
    • Recent hands-on experience in design tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and relevant motion, illustration, or AI design tools.
    • Experience with communication skills and developing client presence; ability to present design rationale and contribute to creative discussions with stakeholders.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Interest or developing fluency in adjacent areas such as brand strategy, service design, content design, or you've expanded your skillset in a self-directed way.

  • Experience contributing to practice-level initiatives such as ways of working, craft assets, onboarding, or community forums.

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in visual design, visual communications, graphic design, fine art, or a related creative field.

  • Experience working in management consulting, a creative agency, or a professional services environment.

  • You are beginning to build an external presence through publishing creative POVs, participating in design community events, or sharing work publicly.
