The Virtual Design and Construction Drafter (VDC Tech) is responsible for creating models and/or drawing sets using the standards that Interstates has established. A Virtual Design and Construction Drafter collaborates with others to learn best practices and incorporates design decisions into deliverables.

Responsibilities:
  • Create deliverable sets based on direction from others by navigating systems and operating tools efficiently.
  • Learn tool functionality by researching and leveraging mentorship and other available resources.
  • Continuously improve methods and efficiency by collaborating with others
  • Modify models, data, or drawing sets based on direction from others.
  • Communicate effectively using virtual and in-person collaboration tools with internal and external teams.
  • Apply model and scope changes by adjusting deliverables as required.
  • Document and archive revisions by adhering to established procedures.
  • Follow project workflows and agreed upon standards to meet typical deliverable requirements and schedules.
  • Perform self-checks to identify and correct major errors and deviations from best practices.
    Assist in peer reviewing others' work to ensure compliance with established standards.

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Self-perform advanced design tasks with direction.
  • Provide continuous improvement suggestions for tools and processes.
  • Work directly with manufacturing and construction teams to deliver constructable design.

Education and/or Experience: A high school diploma or an applicable associate degree (A.A., A.S.) from a two-year community college or technical college is required. Candidates with 1-2 years of experience in a virtual design, construction, or related technical field are preferred. A combination of relevant education and hands-on experience will also be considered in place of formal education requirements. Ideal candidates will have foundational experience with virtual modeling software, construction documentation, or technical design applications that support virtual design and construction processes.

Travel Requirements: Travel will be required and will vary according to business requirements. Travel should not exceed 15%.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $68,000 to $93,500+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
