Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Quality, Risk, and Compliance for Radiology Services is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance initiatives for Vanderbilt Imaging Services. This role ensures alignment with VUMC-wide standards while addressing the unique clinical, operational, and regulatory needs of outpatient radiology services, including imaging modalities, interventional procedures, and outpatient diagnostic centers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains a Radiology-specific Quality Management Program aligned with Vanderbilt Imaging Services and hospital-wide goals and regulatory standards (CMS, ACR, etc.).
  • Leads performance improvement initiatives using data-driven methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to enhance patient outcomes, workflow efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Collaborates with radiologists, technologists, and administrative staff to identify and address quality gaps.
  • Leads and coordinates VIS Quality Committee
  • Maintains readiness for inspections and accreditation by ACR, CMS, and state agencies. Pro-actively manages calendar of inspection cycles.
  • Coordinates documentation, policy updates, and staff training to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison with VUMC and VUH Radiology compliance and quality departments to ensure radiology-specific standards are met.
  • Oversees incident reporting, root cause analyses, and risk mitigation strategies specific to radiology (e.g., contrast reactions, radiation safety, procedural complications).
  • Ensures compliance with radiation safety protocols and collaborates with the Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Monitors and trends adverse events and near misses, facilitating corrective actions and education.
  • Responds to Veritas reports related to Quality, Risk and Compliance issues
  • Develops and delivers training programs on quality, safety, and compliance topics tailored to radiology staff.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and continuous improvement through engagement and recognition programs.
  • Utilizes hospital systems (e.g., Veritas, Epic, PACS) to collect, analyze, and report quality metrics.
  • Prepares dashboards and reports for Radiology Leadership, Quality & Compliance Committees, and Executive Teams.
  • Prepares monthly reports for VHS
  • Works closely with the Director of Radiology Services, Medical Director, Vanderbilt Imaging Services teams, and hospital quality leadership.
  • Participates in strategic planning and contributes to departmental goals related to quality and compliance.
  • Represents Radiology in hospital-wide quality and compliance meetings.
