Full Job Description
MITRE is seeking an experienced Video & Social Media Producer to help shape how MITRE tells its stories across today's rapidly evolving social media landscape. This role will lead the strategy, development, and production of engaging, platform-native short-form video that brings MITRE's people, expertise, research, innovation, and public-interest mission to life for external audiences. The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on producer and AI-enabled creator who understands what makes social video compelling and effective while possessing the editorial judgment required to communicate complex technical, scientific, and government-related subject matter accurately and responsibly. This person will help MITRE move beyond simply creating "videos for social" toward a social-first video strategy intentionally designed around audience behavior, platform consumption, storytelling, and measurable performance. The successful candidate will understand how AI is reshaping content strategy and production and will actively identify responsible ways to incorporate it into the creative process. This includes using AI to accelerate research and ideation, develop and test creative concepts, analyze transcripts and source material, and identify content opportunities. This role requires someone who can move seamlessly between strategy and execution -identifying what MITRE should create, why an audience should care, how the story should be told, producing the content, and using AI-enabled tools, audience insights, and performance data to determine what's next. **Roles & Responsibilities:** - Develop and execute a short-form video content strategy aligned with MITRE's enterprise social media, communications, brand, thought leadership, and audience objectives. - Leverage approved AI-enabled tools to improve production efficiency across research, ideation, transcript analysis, clip identification, captioning, versioning, and other appropriate parts of the content workflow. - Identify compelling stories across MITRE's experts, research, programs, events, demonstrations, facilities, and thought leadership and translate them into social-first video concepts. - Own short-form video projects from concept through delivery, including ideation, scripting, interviewing, shooting, producing, editing, graphics, captions, sound, and platform packaging. - Develop strong hooks, story angles, interview concepts, expert explainers, recurring series, behind-the-scenes content, event coverage, demonstrations, and other scalable social video formats. - Produce and optimize content for LinkedIn, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other relevant or emerging social platforms. - Apply social-first storytelling techniques, including hooks, pacing, narrative structure, visual storytelling, audience retention, and platform-specific editing. - Stay current on social media trends, emerging video formats, creator techniques, platform changes, generative AI capabilities, and audience behaviors - and determine how those developments can appropriately support MITRE's mission and communications objectives. **Basic Qualifications:** - Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. - 5 years of related experience in video production, social media content, multimedia production, digital storytelling, content strategy, or a related field with a bachelor's degree - or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience. - Demonstrated ability to evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, quality, appropriateness, and alignment with editorial and brand standards rather than relying on AI-generated content without human review. - A strong portfolio that demonstrates short-form video content and direct involvement in strategy, production, editing, and storytelling. - Strong hands-on video production capabilities, including interviewing, camera operation, lighting, audio, editing, graphics, captions, and platform-specific formatting. - Strong knowledge of social video platforms and formats, including LinkedIn, Instagram/Reels, YouTube/Shorts, and emerging social channels. - Experience using social media and video analytics to evaluate content performance and make recommendations based on audience behavior. - Excellent editorial judgment and the ability to balance creativity and speed with accuracy, institutional reputation, stakeholder requirements, and audience needs. - Strong writing, interviewing, communication, organizational, and project-management skills. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, stakeholders, and competing priorities in a complex and collaborative environment. - Ability to work independently while partnering effectively across communications, creative, technical, and leadership teams. - Ability to work 3 days per week onsite in McLean, VA or Bedford, MA **Preferred Qualifications:** - Experience producing content related to national security, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, emerging technology, aviation, healthcare, R&D, critical infrastructure, or federal government programs. - Working knowledge of AI-assisted content capabilities such as research and ideation, scripting, transcript analysis, content repurposing, video and audio enhancement, captioning, editing, versioning, and performance analysis. - Experience working within a government contractor, FFRDC, federal agency, research organization, or another government-funded environment. - Demonstrated experience developing executive and technical subject matter expert-focused social video. - Advanced proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or comparable professional video-production tools. - Experience with motion graphics, animation, or other visual storytelling techniques. - Experience incorporating generative AI or AI-assisted tools into professional content-production workflows. - Demonstrated success creating repeatable video franchises, recurring editorial series, or scalable social-first content programs rather than solely producing one-off video assets. - Strong understanding of the distinctions between institutional/corporate video production and content intentionally designed for social media audiences. - Demonstrated curiosity about emerging technology, AI-powered creative technologies, social media culture, audience behavior, and new approaches to digital storytelling. Ability to distinguish useful applications from trends that do not support audience or business objectives **This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):** None **This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):** None **Salary compensation range and midpoint:** $127,200 - $159,000 - $190,800 Annual **Work Location Type:** Onsite
