The
Victim Services Coordinator reports to the
Advocacy Center Assistant Director. The primary job duties of this position include:
- Supervise the delivery of crisis intervention, follow-up communication, and referral services for crime victims, witnesses, and their families.
- Coordinate emergency and after-hours crisis response coverage.
- Ensure victims are thoroughly prepared for involvement with the criminal justice system and guided through court processes.
- Monitor and support staff in assisting victims with filing compensation claims and obtaining Orders of Protection and Injunctions Against Harassment.
- Review and guide staff assessments of victim needs to ensure appropriate connections to community resources and support services.
- Oversee and model effective communication with victims, witnesses, employees, sworn officers, coworkers, management, vendors, media, court personnel, public officials, other agencies, and the general public, including children.
- Represent the Victim Advocacy Unit at multi-disciplinary committees, community events, public engagements, and meetings with law enforcement, prosecutors, court personnel, and community agencies, including occasional after-hours events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or other related field.
- A minimum of three years' experience in victim assistance, counseling, social work, or crisis intervention, law enforcement, or a similarly related field, including at least one year of supervisory/managerial experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master's Degree in Social Sciences, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field.
- Completion of the National Victim Assistance Academy (NVAA) and Arizona Coalition for Victim Services (AVAA) Basic Academy.
- Good working knowledge of the criminal justice system, mental health laws, the principles and techniques of prevention counseling, and the operations of social agencies.
- Bilingual skills.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS- Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license by hire or promotion date.
Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of information handled, successful completion of a Police Department Background Investigation is required.
This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.
