Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Professional Standards for Administrators set by Massachusetts education authorities.
  • Collaborate with the Principal to drive school improvement and set objectives based on student needs and community concerns.
  • Participate in the School Improvement Planning Team.
  • Assist the Principal in evaluating school personnel.
  • Plan and manage school scheduling effectively.
  • Support the Principal in addressing drop-out prevention and implementing data-driven instruction.
  • Help create a safe and disciplined learning environment according to the school discipline code.
  • Supervise student activity programs and athletics, and participate in extracurricular events whenever possible.
  • Work with attendance and discipline officers to ensure proper school discipline and emergency planning.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, or Principal.

Vice Principal- High School

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensure as a Principal 5-12 from the Massachusetts Department of Education and SEI endorsement.
  • Master's Degree in an appropriate field.
  • Experience teaching at the secondary level in an urban environment
  • Experience in school admistration preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of public education in Massachusetts, administration/supervision, and curriculum development.
  • In-depth understanding of Chapter 37H and Chapter 37H ½ and Chapter 37H ¾ laws as they pertain to student discipline.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adheres to the Professional Standards for Administrators as outlined by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Works with the Principal and leadership team to enable continual school improvement and to establish goals and objectives of the school based upon student needs, community concerns, district goals, and NEASC recommendations.
  • Sits on School Improvement Planning Team.
  • Assists the Principal in the evaluation of all personnel in the school.
  • Plans and implements all scheduling.
  • Supports the Principal on goals of drop-out prevention, increased inclusion practices, and use of data to inform instruction.
  • Works with the Principal to establish a safe, well-disciplined and productive learning environment for all students in accordance with the discipline code as established by the Lynn School Committee.
  • Assists the Principal in overseeing student activity programs and athletics and shall attend extra-curricular events as frequently as possible
  • Collaborates with the Chief Attendance and Discipline Officer of the Lynn Public Schools and Lynn Police Liaison for School Security and Emergency Planning, in all aspects of school discipline
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and/or Principal.


REPORTS TO: Principal

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the Principal.

SALARY: $135,970.25
