Full Job Description
CNN is looking for a VP, Weather to lead the expansion and transformation of CNN's efforts for its newly launched CNN Weather brand. This role will report into the SVP, New Business. The New Business group was formed in 2025 to create differentiated, standalone lifestyle products that can enrich our users' lives, extend CNN's daily relevance to our audience, and drive the long-term success of CNN's subscription business.

Weather coverage has long been a critical part of CNN's core news offering, and it continues to be an essential part of what our readers expect from our brand. Moreover, this space creates an opportunity for CNN to provide daily, actionable guidance that our audience needs. We are looking for a customer-centric leader who can bring tireless energy and ambition that helps us fulfill our aspiration of helping CNN's audience be prepared and stay safe.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Own and lead the transformation of CNN's Weather vertical, evolving the CNN Weather brand based on customer insights and delivering it across platforms.
  • Drive the overall success of the Weather business, aligning editorial, product, design, technology, marketing, audience, sales, and other partners against a shared vision and measurable goals.
  • Build strong alignment and momentum across teams through clear communication and influence
  • Oversee the business operations of Weather, including:
  • Supporting CNN and WBD sales teams in developing advertising partnerships and sponsorships
  • Partnering with business development to maintain and create strategic partnerships, including data and content providers
  • Enabling marketing and growth teams to build awareness and drive engagement for CNN Weather
  • Partner with editorial leadership to evolve and expand the Weather product offering and overall portfolio.
  • Lead and guide product, design, and engineering teams to deliver solutions grounded in customer needs, ensuring the product suite continues to evolve with a user-centered approach.
  • Champion change and innovation, inspiring teams through energy and leadership to deliver on the vision.
  • Apply a strong understanding of the weather and media landscape to push boundaries and advance CNN's position in the market.


Qualifications & Experience...

  • 12+ years of general management or product ownership experience.
  • Experience delivering new end-to-end product experiences and features for a global brand.
  • Experience in people and change management, directing dedicated Weather resources and dotted line cross-functional partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate and present to stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership to deliver exceptional customer experiences and customer empathy.
  • Experience developing consumer-facing experiences across multiple platforms (e.g., web, mobile, social, newsletters).
  • Experience working with and managing the needs of multiple stakeholders and business teams.
  • Experience driving clarity in ambiguous situations and drive forward progress.
  • Experience with data analysis and driving insights and making business decisions through data.
  • Prior experience in weather is valued, but not required, as we shape our strategy and drive tactical execution.
