Full Job Description
The Vice President, Talent Acquisition serves as the firm's senior recruiting leader, owning the full-cycle hiring strategy across all functions and levels. This is an individual contributor role that is critical to building out 1823 Partners' team at a formative stage, with particular emphasis on technical and quantitative talent acquisition where the firm is investing significantly. The VP TA will design and implement the infrastructure needed to run a high-performing, in-house recruiting function, including Rippling ATS implementation, vendor management, and campus program development. The successful candidate brings deep experience recruiting across investment, technology, and quantitative disciplines, and thrives in a build-oriented, all-hands environment.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Talent Acquisition

  • Own end-to-end recruiting across all functions, with particular strength in sourcing and closing technical, quantitative, and technology talent.
  • Build and execute hiring strategies that minimize agency dependency and maximize in-house capability, engaging external search partners strategically and selectively.
  • Partner with business leaders to understand staffing needs and translate them into effective, timely search execution.

Recruiting Infrastructure and Systems

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing management of the Rippling applicant tracking system (ATS) and supporting recruiting technologies.
  • Develop and document recruiting processes, workflows, and frameworks that scale as the firm grows.
  • Own the recruitment budget, driving efficiency and accountability across all spend.

Vendor and Agency Management

  • Manage all external search partners and recruitment vendors, negotiating terms and evaluating performance against cost and quality benchmarks.
  • Proactively reduce agency spend by building direct sourcing capability and internal pipelines across priority talent segments.

Campus and Early Careers

  • Partner with the HR Business Partner to develop and manage Analyst and Associate recruiting programs, including program design, university relationships, and intern-to-hire pipelines.
  • Represent 1823 Partners at recruiting events, career fairs, and on-campus engagements, as needed.

HR Team Collaboration

  • Operate as a collaborative member of a lean, growing HR team, flexing into broader People team initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of the firm's HR infrastructure, bringing a builder's mindset to everything from process design to employer branding.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including significant exposure to technical, quantitative, and technology hiring within financial services or asset management
  • Demonstrated success building in-house recruiting functions, reducing external agency reliance, and implementing ATS and related systems
  • Experience managing recruitment budgets and vendor relationships with a track record of driving efficiency
  • Familiarity with campus recruiting program management
  • Strong relationship builder with the ability to influence business leaders and operate as a trusted advisor at all levels
  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity and thriving in a fast-paced, build-oriented environment
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and HR/recruiting analytics tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High ethical standards with sound judgment and a commitment to an inclusive workplace
