Vice President, Retail Construction OperationsLocation: Plano, TX

Summary: Sevan is seeking a Vice President, Retail Construction Operations to lead the delivery, operational performance, and profitability of a national portfolio of retail, grocery, convenience store, fuel, and commercial construction programs.
This leader will oversee Directors, Project Executives, Project Managers, and project teams responsible for delivering multiple concurrent construction projects across geographically dispersed locations. The Vice President will be accountable for operational execution, financial performance, client satisfaction, leadership development, and strategic growth within their assigned sector.
The ideal candidate is a proven construction operator with experience leading leaders, managing a diverse project portfolio, developing talent, and driving results through others.
Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership - Lead the successful delivery of retail, grocery, fuel, convenience store, and commercial construction programs nationwide.
- Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to client expectations.
- Establish operational standards, accountability measures, and performance metrics across assigned programs.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project, operational, and organizational risks.
Financial Performance - Own the P&L performance of the assigned sector.
- Manage forecasting, WIP reporting, EACs, margin performance, cash flow, contingency management, and risk mitigation.
- Drive achievement of revenue, profitability, backlog, and operational objectives.
Leadership & Talent Development - Lead and develop Directors, Project Executives, Senior Project Managers, and Project Managers.
- Recruit, coach, mentor, and retain top construction talent.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and operational excellence.
- Build leadership bench strength and succession plans within the organization.
Client & Business Growth - Maintain executive-level relationships with key clients.
- Partner with business development and executive leadership to support new opportunities and client expansion.
- Participate in strategic pursuits, presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Support the development and maintenance of a healthy backlog within the sector.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 15+ years of progressive commercial construction or general contracting experience.
- Demonstrated advancement through operations leadership roles such as Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Project Executive, Director, Regional Operations Manager, or Vice President.
- Proven responsibility for approximately $30M-$50M+ in annual construction volume.
- Experience leading multiple concurrent projects and programs across multiple states.
- Experience leading leaders, including Directors, Project Executives, and Project Management organizations.
- Strong financial and operational management experience, including:
- P&L management
- WIP and EAC reporting
- Forecasting and budgeting
- Margin management
- Buyout strategy
- Change management
- Cash flow management
- Risk management
- Strong client-facing, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience in retail, grocery, convenience store, fuel, restaurant, rollout, renovation, and multi-site commercial construction.
- Experience managing portfolios consisting primarily of projects ranging from $250K to $5M.
- Multi-state contractor operations experience.
- Experience with Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, BuildingConnected, TradeTapp, and related construction software.
- General Contractor license(s) in one or more states.
Pay & Benefits: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $200,000 to $225,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, and overall scope of responsibility.
In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.
