Full Job Description
As Vice-President, Performance & Growth Strategy, you will report to the Senior Vice-President, Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, and play a central leadership role in shaping and delivering the Commercial & Private Banking growth agenda. You will be accountable for translating strategic priorities into clear execution frameworks, performance disciplines, and measurable outcomes across the sector.

Acting as a key connector across Commercial and Private Banking and the broader Bank, you will align senior leaders, mobilize partners, and ensure consistent execution, while identifying and closing performance gaps.

Working closely with senior leadership, regional and sector leaders, and enterprise partners, you will directly contribute to accelerating growth, strengthening performance, and enhancing the client experience across Canada.

Your responsibilities

1. Build and Sustain a High-Performance Culture
  • Lead one of the strategic pillars of the Commercial & Private Banking 5-year Strategic Plan
  • Establish a unified, growth-oriented mindset across Commercial and PB1859, grounded in ownership, accountability, and performance discipline
  • Define and embed standardized execution routines to drive consistency, focus, and quality of execution
  • Equip the salesforce with tools, playbooks, and capabilities to drive profitability and deepen client relationships
  • Implement a disciplined performance management framework with clear objectives, KPIs, and communication cadence
  • Foster an engaged, high-performance culture through visible leadership and performance transparency


2. Strengthen Capabilities through Training
  • Oversee the design and deployment of targeted training programs to build critical capabilities
  • Ensure continuous upskilling aligned with evolving client needs and strategic priorities


3. Lead Client Engagement Strategies
  • Define and execute integrated client engagement strategies across Commercial and PB1859
  • Govern sector marketing and brand strategy aligned with growth priorities
  • Oversee key marketing initiatives, flagship events, and strategic partnerships
  • Ensure consistency of messaging and client experience across segments and channels
  • Leverage engagement strategies to support business development, retention, and growth


4. Lead Commercial & PB Footprint Strategy
  • Ensure disciplined execution of the Real Estate strategy aligned with Commercial objectives
  • Define and deploy the sector's footprint strategy (locations, regional presence, distribution model)
  • Align workplace environments with business priorities and ways of working
  • Position the footprint as a strategic lever for growth and performance


5. Act as an Ambassador for the Commercial & PB Sector
  • Represent the sector in selected National Bank strategic initiatives
  • Ensure alignment and understanding of Commercial & Private Banking strategy across the Bank
  • Leverage insights from across the Bank, industry, and market to inform decisions

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is considered an asset
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in strategy, performance management, transformation, or enterprise leadership, including senior leadership experience, grounded in a solid understanding of frontline operations and sales dynamics
  • Proven ability to translate strategic vision into pragmatic, measurable execution plans
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing performance frameworks, management routines, or transformation initiatives
  • Solid understanding of commercial growth levers, client experience, performance management, and enterprise collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, align, and mobilize senior stakeholders in a matrix environment
  • Strong strategic leadership, executive presence, business acumen, and execution discipline
  • Ability to create clarity, prioritize effectively, and drive multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience in banking, commercial banking, private banking, financial services, or a complex environment

This position can be based in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver. If the role is based in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, or Vancouver, bilingualism is not required.
