Job Description:
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President & CFO, the Vice President of Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis acts as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership. Managing a team of budget professionals, this executive translates institutional goals—financial sustainability, enrollment strategies, campus expansion, and revenue ventures—into robust financial models and capital allocation frameworks.
Key ResponsibilitiesLong-Range Planning & Advanced Modeling:
- Driver-Based Modeling: Lead multi-year planning projecting revenues, expenses, capital needs, and cash flows across 3–10 year horizons.
- Revenue Optimization: Oversee multi-scenario modeling for Net Tuition Revenue (NTR) strategies, gift/endowment deployment, and expense management.
- Scenario & Viability Analytics: Conduct sensitivity analyses and stress testing against demographic/economic shifts; evaluate viability for new revenue ventures.
Capital Budgeting, Asset Strategy & Cash Flow:
- Capital & Debt Strategy: Direct capital budgeting for physical plant, tech, and deferred maintenance; evaluate ROI, debt capacity, and leverage metrics.
- Treasury & Liquidity: Build cash flow models to optimize operating liquidity and working capital across seasonal academic cash cycles with Finance.
Business Development & Operating Budgeting:
- Strategic Revenue Ventures: Structure business opportunities including P3s, real estate monetization, auxiliary expansion, and online/non-degree offerings.
- Operating Budget & Board Reporting: Direct annual operating budgets; prepare executive presentations and decision-support materials for the President, Provost, and Board of Trustees.
What You'll Bring- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics required (MBA/MS preferred). 10+ years progressive finance leadership, with 5+ years in senior leadership in higher education, healthcare, or large non-profits.
- Domain Expertise: Proven track record in P3s, commercial deals, and higher ed accounting, tuition/enrollment mechanics, and endowment tracking.
- Technical Mastery: Advanced financial modeling skills and software experience (Workday, Adaptive Planning, Pilbara, Excel, Tableau).
- Executive Leadership: Demonstrated success managing budget teams and communicating complex strategies to trustees, officers, and faculty leaders.

Hiring Range:$275,000 to $325,000; salary dependent on experience and education.
