The Vice President of Artificial Intelligence & Technology (AIT) reports directly to the President & CEO and is responsible for the strategic design, management, and implementation of an enterprise-wide technology infrastructure and the integration of AI into business operations. This position requires a hands-on leader who connects strategy, information technology, data, AI, portfolio execution, and business outcomes while maintaining and strengthening the existing enterprise architecture. The Vice President is also responsible for translating technology investments into measurable business outcomes for the Association.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Partner with the President & CEO and the executive leadership team to establish the enterprise technology implementation vision and identify opportunities for differentiated digital capabilities and solutions.
- Lead the enterprise technology strategy, including cloud strategy and infrastructure modernization, to transform and innovate IT operations and support business operations.
- Develop and execute a technology strategy addressing enterprise AI and data opportunities; AI strategy and implementation; continuous AI and data governance; AI and data economics and return on investment; and enterprise architecture, applications, and technology roadmaps.
- Lead data management, governance, and quality engineering to provide a unified data platform and master data management capability for the Association.
- Partner with leadership to maintain a shared view of the technology and transformation portfolio, including specification- and test-driven development, formal quality assurance, and success measures for risk, budget, and schedule.
- Lead vendor and contract management for enterprise systems, including capital and operating budgets, forecasts, vendor performance measures, and coordination with Legal, Finance, and Compliance on contract terms, data sharing, regulatory requirements, and protection of Member information and Navy Mutual intellectual property.
- Oversee IT infrastructure, operations, and security across core systems, networks, and cloud services.
- Maintain Navy Mutual's cybersecurity posture to protect Member and Association data and support business continuity and disaster recovery, regardless of incident cause.
- Ensure consistent application of data, IT operations, security, and testing policies; align those policies with the Association's Enterprise Risk Management process; and report periodically on performance.
- Partner with leadership to strengthen the Association's AI, cybersecurity, and data literacy to support safe operations and effective use of applications and systems.
- Lead workforce management in the Solutions & Technology department, including ongoing training, career development, performance evaluations, PTO approvals, and recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, and termination.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of Navy Mutual products and services, life insurance industry products, applicable federal government entitlements and benefits, and general financial planning principles.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Bylaws and policies established by the Board of Directors and written and verbal instructions from the President.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:- Masters level degree in related field or equivalent education, graduate certificates, or professional certifications in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital transformation, data governance, technology leadership, or related disciplines from accredited universities or recognized professional organizations are preferred.
- Demonstrated success in senior leadership roles in life insurance, annuities, or a closely related financial services industry.
- Minimum of 15 years of demonstrated executive-level management experience in an operational environment that includes risk management, information security, and IT security.
- Expertise and demonstrated real world execution in AI, cybersecurity, data management, information technology platforms and operations, IT project management, and testing procedures; relevant industry certifications strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading organizations through IT project launches and transformations, including developing internal talent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and executive leadership skills.
