Job Description
The Vice President of Advancement will plan, direct and coordinate all aspects of agency resource development and promotion, including, but not limited to developing and implementing a strong fundraising program, cultivating relationships with supporters, directing all major fundraising activities, oversight of grant writing, internal and external communications and special projects.

Development & Fundraising Initiatives
  • Develop and implement a structured fundraising program to support the organizational mission through diversified funding resources.
  • Strategically and intentionally engage both individual and institutional supporters; identify, cultivate, solicit and steward current and future donors.
  • Increase the annual retention of donors, number of donors and value of individual gifts, including annual appeals, special and major gift campaigns.
  • Implement program to increase planning giving among current donors.
  • Prepare the annual development plan; including strategies, tactics and measurements to meet organizational objectives along with budgets to support their implementation.
  • Analyze and report donor activity and trends to evaluate effectiveness of development initiatives.
  • Promote and support a culture of philanthropy among staff, board and volunteers which emphasizes and practices the highest standards of professional ethics and donor stewardship.
  • Lead support for all agency fundraising events.

Marketing & Communications
  • Develops the strategic direction for agency-wide marketing and communications.
  • Ensure accurate, clear, detailed and complete communications, including gift recognition.
  • Oversees and maintains YWCA brand standards and supervises the design of all collateral marketing material.
  • Oversees and maintains donor database ensuring the accurate tracking of all donor-related information.

Leadership and Supervision
  • Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and as a liaison for the Board of Directors Advancement Committee.
  • Supervises Advancement and Communication team members.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources on all employment issues; conducts interviews for team members and completes annual performance reviews for all direct reports.
  • Attend and present at all YWCA North Central Indiana Board of Director Meetings (six per year) and oversee all Advancement and Special Event Committee meetings.
  • Represent the YWCA in the community with other service providers, business, government, community organizations and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational goals.


Experience and Skills
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Philanthropic Studies, Communications, Marketing or related field; or a combination of education and experience.

Knowledge & Experience
  • 7-10 years of related experience preferred; development, marketing, sales.
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion when handling potentially confidential and/or sensitive matters.
  • Exceptional skills in writing, planning, organizing and evaluation of written / oral communications.
  • Excellent time management skills and comfort level with handling a multitude of projects with overlapping deadlines.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and database management platforms.
  • Experience and knowledge of charitable giving and marketing strategies.
