Job Title: Vice President of North America Sales

Position Summary
Reporting to the CEO, the VP of North America Sales is responsible for leading commercial efforts in the region, developing and executing strategic sales plans, achieving aggressive sales targets, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and success within the sales organization. This role oversees a commercial team of approximately 30-40 sales, marketing and customer support employees.
This role provides executive leadership in medical device sales, specifically within the surgical ophthalmology market. Responsibilities include managing and developing high-performing sales teams, driving significant revenue growth across North America, establishing strong customer relationships and supporting growth strategies for surgical consumables and single-use products in the U.S. market.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution:
Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies and tactics to achieve and exceed North America revenue targets and market share objectives.
Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new opportunities and adapt sales strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with executive leadership to align sales strategies with overall company goals and product development initiatives.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of 30-40 sales, marketing and customer support employees, fostering a high-performance, results-driven culture.
Recruit, train, and retain top sales talent, ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.
Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement development plans to enhance team capabilities.
Sales Operations & Performance Management:
Establish clear sales targets, KPIs, and performance metrics for the North America sales team.
Monitor sales performance closely, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Develop and manage the North America sales budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
Oversee accurate sales forecasting and reporting.
Customer Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key opinion leaders, major accounts, and strategic partners.
Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and other relevant events.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and address customer concerns promptly and effectively.
Product & Market Expertise:
Maintain an in-depth understanding of the surgical ophthalmology, market including product knowledge, clinical applications, and competitive landscape.
Provide input to product development based on market feedback and customer needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive sales leadership experience in the medical device industry, with a significant portion in surgical ophthalmology.
At least 7-10 years of experience managing a large commercial team, specifically overseeing sales directors and a team of 30+ sales representatives.
Proven track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets and driving significant revenue growth.
Experience in surgical consumables/single-use products in the USA market preferred.
Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel extensively throughout North America as required.

The estimated total compensation for this position is $300K–$350K
per year based on skills, job-related knowledge, experience, education, and performance.
