Why this role mattersAt Truliant Federal Credit Union, helping members achieve homeownership is about more than managing a mortgage process; it is about building trust, creating a strong member experience, and helping families move toward an important financial milestone. In this role, you will lead the mortgage loan production strategy and help shape a sales culture that connects members, branch partners, referral relationships, and mortgage professionals around a shared goal: making homeownership more accessible and successful.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys leading through others, building strong partnerships, developing high-performing teams, and making a visible impact on both member experience and business growth.
What you’ll doIn this role, you will take ownership of retail mortgage loan production and lead the Mortgage Loan Originator team in driving growth, service excellence, and strong internal and external partnerships. You will help the team identify new opportunities, strengthen referral relationships, meet production goals, and deliver a mortgage experience that reflects Truliant’s commitment to its members.
Day to day, you’ll:
- Lead, coach, recruit, and develop Mortgage Loan Originators and mortgage sales leaders to support production goals, member service, compliance, and professional growth.
- Build and strengthen relationships with branch leaders, business partners, referral sources, Real Estate professionals, and centers of influence to grow residential lending opportunities.
- Guide the team in structuring loans, delivering quality files, navigating lending programs and policies, and maintaining clear communication from origination through closing.
Beyond that, your work will include sharing market insights, participating in sales and operational meetings, supporting mortgage training activities, promoting homeownership in the community, and helping the mortgage team compete successfully in the marketplace.
What you bringWe are looking for a mortgage leader who brings deep industry knowledge, proven sales leadership, strong business judgment, and a genuine commitment to member service. You will be successful in this role if you can balance strategic growth, people leadership, operational discipline, and regulatory awareness while keeping the member experience at the center of the work.
This role is a great fit if you have:
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of previous mortgage experience.
- 7+ years of management experience, including at least 3 years in a senior management role.
- Demonstrated experience in mortgage sales and marketing, including prospecting, generating leads, closing business, and consistently meeting or exceeding production goals.
Required Skills:
- Leading a mortgage sales team to achieve goals, develop talent, model core values, and inspire strong performance.
- Applying strong knowledge of first and second mortgage real estate lending, including loan origination, processing, underwriting, closing procedures, secondary market concepts, and regulatory compliance.
- Building and maintaining referral relationships with Real Estate professionals, internal business partners, and other centers of influence.
- Analyzing complex financial information and helping provide appropriate financial alternatives for members.
- Using mortgage technology, Microsoft applications, databases, and digital tools to access rate, credit, loan status, and communication information.
- Organizing priorities, managing competing needs, focusing on critical issues, and completing work with minimal supervision.
- Communicating clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing, while delivering excellent service to members and business partners.
Education/Certifications:
- Must meet requirements to be bonded.
You should also be comfortable working in a general office environment, staying current on lending programs and compliance requirements, and making sound decisions in a fast-moving, highly regulated mortgage environment.
What sets you apartYou don’t need to check every box, but here’s what will help you thrive in this role:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance, or related experience with loan processing or financial services.
- A well-established, verifiable referral network that includes Real Estate professionals and other centers of influence.
- Broad knowledge of residential lending products, insurance products, underwriting guidelines, and how loans are structured to protect loan-to-value and member outcomes.
- Experience strengthening referral partnerships across branch networks, credit union business lines, and community relationships.
- A leadership style that blends sales discipline, coaching, accountability, and a strong commitment to service.
