Job Description
The VP, Medical Director is responsible for providing medical, scientific, and strategic leadership for clients and internal teams. This person serves as a senior medical voice across the agency, helping translate complex science, clinical data, and brand objectives into clear, accurate, and compelling medical communications.
In this role, the VP, Medical Director will partner closely with account, strategy, creative, editorial, and regulatory teams to guide the development of medical advertising materials that are scientifically accurate, strategically sound, and aligned with client goals. They will provide senior-level medical counsel, support strategic recommendations across the pharmaceutical product lifecycle, and help ensure the quality, medical accuracy, scientific integrity, and timeliness of assigned work.

• Provide medical, scientific, and strategic expertise to clients and internal teams
• Serve as a senior medical partner across assigned accounts, helping guide the development of accurate, compelling, and strategically relevant medical communications
• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of therapeutic areas such as immunology, oncology, hematology, and other complex disease states
• Support large AOR accounts by providing medical guidance across brand strategy, campaign development, content creation, and client deliverables
• Oversee the development of medical advertising materials created by Razorfish Health
• Take responsibility for the quality, medical accuracy, scientific integrity, and timeliness of assigned projects
• Review and edit medical content prior to client, internal, or MLR submission
• Direct writers and content developers in the creation of original medical content
• Help ensure compliance with medical, legal, and regulatory review processes
• Partner with account, strategy, creative, editorial, and regulatory teams to ensure work is medically sound and aligned with client objectives
• Interact with clients, healthcare provider experts, and internal agency teams both in person and remotely
• Present medical rationale, scientific insights, and strategic recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
• Participate in new business pitches and contribute medical expertise to prospective client opportunities
• Mentor and guide team members, helping elevate the quality of medical thinking and content across the agency
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Advanced degree in healthcare, medicine, or a related scientific field, such as MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, DDS, or equivalent advanced degree
• At least 5 years of agency, pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry experience
• Experience working on pharmaceutical advertising accounts, with AOR experience preferred
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical marketing principles, regulations, and practices
• Experience developing, reviewing, and guiding medical advertising materials
• Strong writing and editorial skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific information into clear and compelling content
• Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Ability to provide medical, scientific, and strategic counsel to clients and internal teams
• Comfortable working closely with cross-functional teams, including account, strategy, creative, editorial, and regulatory partners
• Strong client service orientation and ability to build trusted relationships with clients and healthcare experts
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced agency environment
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Thorough, scientifically curious, and comfortable managing multiple priorities across accounts
• Ability to participate in new business opportunities and present confidently to prospective clients

Compensation Range: USD $129,485.00 - USD $207,324.00/Annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
