This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Vice President, Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in Roseville, CA.

This leadership role is ideal for a licensed Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in higher education facility design who brings a strong combination of technical leadership, client engagement, and business development experience. You will play a key role in driving project delivery while supporting the continued growth of WSP's higher education practice in Northern California.

WSP's Property & Buildings business continues to expand across the higher education sector, supporting innovative and complex facilities that respond to evolving patient care and infrastructure needs.

Your Impact
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for mechanical engineering design across complex higher education projects
  • Lead and oversee the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction and close-out
  • Drive client relationships and business development efforts, including pursuits, proposals, and market strategy
  • Oversee design of HVAC systems, central utility plants, hydronic systems, and plumbing systems
  • Ensure compliance with higher education codes, standards, and California regulatory requirements
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality, coordinated project delivery
  • Manage project performance, including scope, schedule, budget, and profitability
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, strengthening long-term relationships and identifying growth opportunities
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, contributing to team growth and succession planning
  • Support technical reviews, contract negotiations, and presentations with clients and stakeholders


Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in higher education project delivery
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical infrastructure, and higher education specific codes and standards
  • Proven experience in project leadership and client-facing roles
  • Track record of supporting or leading business development and project pursuits
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related engineering tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading large, complex higher education programs or portfolios
  • Established client relationships within the Northern California higher education market
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across regional or national projects
  • LEED AP or sustainability credentials
  • Experience contributing to strategic growth initiatives within an engineering organization

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $163,800- $243,200

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
