Job Title/High-Level Position Summary:
- The VP of Logistics is responsible for developing and executing the enterprise-wide logistics strategy across transportation, warehousing, distribution, trade compliance, and customer fulfillment operations. This leadership position ensures the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of products throughout the global supply chain while supporting business growth, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. Operating within a highly matrixed global environment, the VP of Logistics serves as a key strategic partner to business leaders and functional stakeholders, translating commercial objectives into scalable logistics solutions. This role is accountable for optimizing the global logistics network, building organizational capabilities, mitigating risk, and driving continuous improvement through data, technology, and strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a global logistics strategy aligned with business objectives, customer requirements, and operational priorities.
- Design and optimize global transportation, warehousing, and distribution networks to improve service, efficiency, and resilience.
- Drive long-term logistics capabilities that support market expansion, acquisitions, product launches, and changing customer needs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on logistics strategy, network performance, risk, and investment decisions.
- Balance customer service, inventory, cost, speed, sustainability, and risk objectives across the enterprise.
- Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary logistics interface with business unit leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Build alignment across a highly matrixed organization to influence decision-making.
- Support strategic business initiatives by ensuring logistics capabilities enable commercial growth and operational execution.
- Lead discussions regarding service expectations, transportation trade-offs, inventory positioning, and cost optimization opportunities.
- Transportation & Distribution Management
- Oversee global transportation operations across all modes, including air, ocean, truckload, parcel, rail, and specialized logistics solutions.
- Develop transportation strategies that optimize cost, service levels, capacity, and network flexibility.
- Establish and manage relationships with logistics providers, carriers, freight forwarders, and distribution partners.
- Drive continuous improvement of transportation planning, execution, and performance management processes.
- Ensure effective distribution network operations supporting customer fulfillment and product availability.
- Warehousing & Fulfillment Operations
- Lead global warehouse and distribution center strategy.
- Optimize warehouse footprint, inventory deployment, capacity utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with operations and planning teams to improve fulfillment performance and customer responsiveness.
- Ensure standardized operating practices across distribution facilities globally.
- Drive operational excellence initiatives focused on safety, service, productivity, and quality.
- Trade Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all global trade regulations, import/export requirements, customs regulations, and transportation standards.
- Develop comprehensive logistics risk management and business continuity strategies.
- Mitigate risks associated with geopolitical disruptions, transportation capacity constraints, natural disasters, and regulatory changes.
- Establish contingency plans and alternative logistics solutions to ensure continuity of supply.
- Partner with Legal, Regulatory, and Quality organizations to maintain compliance and reduce enterprise risk.
- Logistics Excellence & Digital Transformation
- Drive transformation of logistics processes through technology, automation, analytics, and digital solutions.
- Leverage transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), control towers, and advanced analytics to improve visibility and decision-making.
- Develop logistics performance dashboards and key performance indicators.
- Champion EGX continuous improvement methodologies and process standardization globally.
- Promote data-driven decision-making and end-to-end supply chain visibility.
- Sustainability Leadership
- Integrate sustainability objectives into logistics strategies and operations.
- Drive initiatives that reduce transportation emissions, improve network efficiency, and support ESG.
- Partner with logistics providers to advance sustainable transportation solutions.
- Organizational Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing global logistics organization.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.
- Develop logistics leadership capabilities and succession pipelines across regions.
- Lead organizational change and capability-building initiatives supporting business transformation.
- Create strong partnerships across regional and functional teams to drive enterprise results.
- Ensure compliance with all EH&S policies and practices aligned with our enterprise wide culture of safety.
Minimum Basic Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor27s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field required.
- Experience
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, supply chain, operations, or transportation management.
- Significant experience leading global logistics organizations in complex multinational environments.
- Proven success managing large-scale transportation, distribution, and warehouse operations.
- Demonstrated experience optimizing global logistics networks and leading transformation initiatives.
- Strong background working within highly matrixed organizations.
- Experience partnering with senior executives and influencing strategic business decisions.
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience within regulated industries such as Medical Device, Life Sciences, Healthcare, or Advanced Manufacturing preferred.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to travel up to 40% of the time.
