Full Job Description
The Vice President, Marketing & Growth serves as a key strategic and commercial leader responsible for driving enterprise growth, brand strength, client acquisition, retention, and revenue performance across the VCA network of hospitals. This role will play a critical leadership role in accelerating VCA's next phase of growth by strengthening brand trust, expanding client relationships, and activating demand across VCA's national hospital network.

The Vice President of Marketing & Growth reports directly to the Vice President, Marketing and partners closely with cross-functional leaders across marketing, operations, medical and digital teams to shape the marketing and brand strategy and demand generation agenda in support of VCA and Mars Veterinary Health's growth agenda. This role will lead the development and orchestration of integrated marketing, brand and demand generation strategies designed to drive measurable growth in new client acquisition, visit frequency, retention and lifetime value across the VCA hospital network, in alignment with organizational objectives and content principles. The Vice President will collaborate with the broader marketing team, MVH support and field marketing team to design and guide execution of national and local marketing strategies. The Vice President of Marketing & Growth will lead a team of marketing and branding subject matter experts, consultants and external vendors to drive an aligned comms journey, leverage the voice of our client and performance analytics to proactively drive recommendations and adjustments and be accountable to overarching business results. The Vice President will also work closely with Marketing leaders in Mars Veterinary Health to ensure VCA's marketing and branding strategy is in alignment with MVH requirements and guidelines while advancing VCA's role in the broader Mars Veterinary Health growth strategy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
  • Operate as a strategic thought partner to the VP Chief Marketing Officer to define VCA's marketing and branding strategy and growth agenda. Designs and leads execution for a multi-year marketing and growth roadmap aligned with VCA's strategic priorities.
  • Use data-driven insights to identify marketing opportunities, competitive positioning, and client trends. Establish and report on KPIs, dashboards, and performance reporting to measure ROI and marketing effectiveness.
  • Lead and develop the Marketing Strategy & Planning team, ensuring alignment of team goals, performance metrics, and growth objectives.
  • Lead marketing investment and budget allocation decisions aligned to enterprise objectives, growth priorities, and highest-impact opportunities.
  • Develop and steward the Marketing Strategy Narrative for MVH, including Annual Planning, governance forums, and strategic communications.
  • Build and lead a high-performing marketing and branding team with strong talent development, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Maintain knowledge on emerging market trends, client behaviors, competitive intelligence, and industry innovations to maintain a best-in-class marketing function.
  • Fulfill other related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field.
  • Master's degree in business, marketing or related field
  • 15+ years of progressive marketing and branding experience; experience designing and executing marketing tactics and brand strategies. People leadership experience.
  • Services, multi-units, leading enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Travel up to 30%


COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to translate enterprise priorities into clear marketing and growth strategies that drive measurable business outcomes
  • Expert-level capability in Excel and quantitative analysis to build business cases, model investment scenarios, and evaluate growth opportunities
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI or similar platforms to develop dashboards, measure performance, and translate data into actionable insights
  • Exceptional ability to synthesize complex business insights into clear, compelling executive narratives and presentations using PowerPoint and other visualization tools
  • Consulting-level ability to structure problems, analyze market opportunities, and develop evidence-based recommendations for senior leadership
  • Ability to work across marketing, operations, finance, and medical leadership to align priorities and drive enterprise initiatives.
  • Experience managing strategic planning processes, governance forums, and leadership decision-making frameworks
  • Strong ability to identify emerging client behaviors, competitive shifts, and industry trends to inform strategic growth initiatives


TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:
  • Advanced Excel (financial modeling, scenario planning, forecasting)
  • Power BI or equivalent analytics platforms
  • Advanced PowerPoint / executive storytelling
  • Data visualization and dashboard development
  • Marketing analytics and ROI measurement


WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, and move) up to 50 pounds. Lifting higher weights requires requesting assistance from another associate.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate necessary equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision.
  • Occasionally exposed to airborne particles and illness from patients and chemicals related to animal care and office equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.
  • Environment where pets are present.

Additional Information: Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $231,616.00 - 289,520.00.
