GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Future Builders of America (FBA) is HBI's national platform for expanding access to residential construction workforce solutions through curriculum licensing and related licensed workforce solutions. The Vice President of Future Builders of America (FBA) serves as the business leader for HBI's Future Builders of America licensing portfolio, accountable for its strategic direction, growth, market expansion, portfolio performance, and long-term sustainability.

As a member of HBI's Senior Leadership Team, the Vice President will lead FBA as a mission-driven business portfolio, balancing market growth, customer value, revenue-generating products and services, and measurable workforce impact while helping shape its future direction and ensuring alignment with HBI's nonprofit mission and organizational priorities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Portfolio Strategy & Business Leadership
  • Lead the strategic direction, growth, market expansion, and overall performance of the Future Builders of America licensing portfolio.
  • Establish annual business objectives, revenue targets, portfolio priorities, and performance measures.
  • Evaluate market opportunities and help shape the future direction and long-term sustainability of FBA.
  • Translate market and customer intelligence into portfolio strategy and business decisions.

Financial & Portfolio Performance
  • Own overall revenue performance, financial sustainability, and business results for the FBA portfolio.
  • Establish and monitor portfolio-level financial and performance targets.
  • Evaluate pricing, investment, resource allocation, and business opportunities in collaboration with appropriate HBI leaders.
  • In conjunction with AVP of FBA oversee budgeting for portfolio.

Market & Product Strategy
  • Identify new markets, customer segments, and opportunities to expand adoption of HBI's licensed workforce solutions.
  • Guide the positioning, packaging, and evolution of the FBA product portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities for new or enhanced revenue-generating offerings based on market demand and customer needs.

Customer & Market Strategy
  • Establish the overall customer growth, retention, and expansion strategy for FBA.
  • Ensure the customer experience supports long-term value, renewals, and portfolio growth.
  • Maintain relationships with key strategic customers and stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Performance
  • Lead and develop assigned FBA staff, establishing clear expectations and accountability.
  • Establish clear goals, accountability, and performance expectations across the team.
  • Ensure alignment between portfolio strategy and day-to-day sales and customer activity.

Industry Relations & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with the AVP of FBA to translate FBA strategy into effective market development, sales, and industry engagement.
  • Collaborate with other HBI teams to ensure effective transition from licensing agreements to implementation and ongoing customer support.
  • Partner with Marketing, Communications, Development, Finance, and other functions to advance FBA's business objectives and HBI's mission.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: BA/BS in business administration, marketing, education or combined training, education and experience in related fields.

EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of progressive experience in sales, business development, licensing, or marketing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Education, Workforce Development, Nonprofit Management or a related field.
  • Experience in product commercialization, educational publishing, workforce development, curriculum, credentialing, professional learning, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success selling and growing educational products, curriculum, licenses, certifications, or other business-to-business solutions.
  • Proven experience developing sales strategies, managing pipelines, closing agreements, and growing revenue.
  • Experience leading the complete customer lifecycle, including acquisition, onboarding, implementation handoff, renewal, retention, and expansion.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify new markets, develop strategic relationships, and convert opportunities into sustainable revenue.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with revenue forecasting, pricing, sales performance, and business metrics.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams and managers.
  • Strong customer orientation and ability to build and sustain long-term relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a mission-driven nonprofit environment and align business performance with organizational mission.


WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: HBI staff at all levels; HBI Executive Management Team, HBI Board of Trustees

External: A wide variety of government and industry groups, local and state education departments.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Usual office-type working conditions. Routine physical conditions include walking, carrying, standing, hearing/listening, and sitting.
  • Travel as required in-state and out -of state (up to 25-30% annually).
