Full Job Description
The Vice President, Finance (VP, Finance) is the senior operational finance leader and enterprise finance business partner, serving as a key member of the leadership team overseeing the General Accounting, Financial Operations, and Financial Planning & Analysis functions focused on fiscal responsibility and financial transparency. The VP, Finance is accountable for operational execution, compliance, financial planning analysis, and reporting across the organization while ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
Here's how you'll have an impact:
Financial Management & Compliance
• Oversee all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting functions. Engage in continuous improvement of each of these functional areas.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit financial regulations.
• Maintain internal controls and safeguard assets to mitigate financial risk.
• Oversee the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors and financial consultants.
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of financial reports, including IRS Form 990 and other regulatory submissions.
• Manage banking relationships and oversee cash and investment management strategies including complex funding mechanisms. Assist with the setup, operations, and closure of foreign bank accounts as needed.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
• Oversee the annual budgeting process, working closely with division and department leaders and the FP&A team to develop realistic and mission-driven budgets.
• Monitor the organization's financial performance against the budget, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Prepare and present financial statements, reports, and forecasts to leadership.
Financial Analysis & Decision Support
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing financial analysis, operational insights, and recommendations that support informed decision-making and organizational priorities.
• Develop and maintain executive reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics that increase organizational financial transparency and decision support
• Partner with leadership to improve financial performance, optimize resource allocation, and advance strategic and mission-focused objectives.
• Conduct in-depth financial analyses to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
• Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Provide data-driven insights to assess program effectiveness and financial sustainability.
• Present complex financial data in a clear and actionable manner to non-financial stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight
• Hire, mentor, support, coach, motivate, and develop teams to maximize collective performance. Create an atmosphere for outstanding teamwork through clear expectations, frequent communication, and providing fair and consistent feedback. Manage performance of team members effectively.
• Develop and retain high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate and enhance financial systems, software, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy. Implement automation and process improvements to drive operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization's financial health and strategic goals
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Master's degree/MBA preferred
• CPA strongly preferred
• 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably with international nonprofit and commercial experience.
• Experience leading complex, geographically dispersed finance, accounting, and FP&A organizations.
• Experience designing executive-level reporting frameworks, dashboards, and financial performance metrics.
• Demonstrated leadership of complex, geographically diverse finance, accounting, and FP&A teams, including developing, mentoring, and retaining high-performing talent while fostering accountability and collaboration.
• Experience managing complex operating budgets, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation in dynamic, mission-driven organizations.
• Experience with financial software and systems, preferably Intacct and Adaptive.
• Proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, translating financial insights into strategic business recommendations.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and compliance requirements, financial management and reporting, regulatory compliance, audit, internal controls, and treasury operations.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, including scenario planning, investment analysis, and evaluation of organizational risks and opportunities.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Strategic thinker with strong business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to connect financial performance, operational effectiveness, and organizational goals.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders and influence at all levels of the organization.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to earn the confidence and support of a wide range of internal and external constituents.
• Capability to distill information clearly and explain complex issues with precision and consistency.
• Appreciation for sport and the ideals of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement.

Here's where you'll work:
Colorado Springs Downtown Headquarters / Hybrid
This position is eligible for relocation assistance for qualified candidates relocating to the Colorado Springs area.
Here's some more information you need to know:
• Hiring pay range $210,000 - $215,000 per year.
• This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
• Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 25% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
