Position Overview
The Vice President, Enterprise Strategy is a high-impact contributor who, along with the Chief Strategy Officer, will drive enterprise strategy development across Zelis — from market analysis and competitive positioning to capability assessment, strategic narrative development, and overall corporate growth strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, this person serves as a trusted analytical and strategic partner to senior leadership, moving fluidly between rigorous analysis and executive-level storytelling.What You’ll Do
Enterprise Strategy Development
Lead development and continuous evolution of Zelis's global enterprise strategy, synthesizing market dynamics, competitive positioning, technology trends, and capability assessments into actionable growth and portfolio management frameworks
Structure and drive strategic planning cycles — annual strategy and portfolio reviews, board presentations, and operating model assessments
Develop multi-year strategic plans, growth roadmaps, and investment thesis documents that align business unit strategies with enterprise priorities
Translate complex analyses into clear, compelling narratives for C-suite executives and board-level audiences
Support both organic and inorganic growth plays
Competitive and Market Intelligence
Own Enterprise competitive intelligence frameworks, working in collaboration with the Company’s operating units, that provide early warning of market shifts, emerging threats, and new entrant activity across healthcare payments, payment integrity, revenue cycle, and adjacent health IT
Synthesize regulatory, technological, and macroeconomic trends — including AI/ML adoption and payment model evolution — into strategic implications for Zelis
In partnership with our Corporate Development team, monitor funding events, partnership formations, and strategic activity across the healthcare technology ecosystem
Cross-Functional Strategic Collaboration
Partner with business unit leadership, sales, technology and executive team/BOD to translate strategic priorities into key growth plays and portfolio management actions
Facilitate strategic alignment across business units, resolving competing priorities with a clear analytical foundation
Prepare, and participate with, the Chief Strategy Officer and CEO for board presentations and external strategic communications
What You’ll Bring
Typically has master’s +15 years overall corporate experience including 7–10 years in strategy and a demonstrated track record in healthcare technology.
Prior experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, BCG or equivalent) strongly preferred.
Substantive experience working with or within health plans (payers) and provider organizations — fluency in the financial, operational, and regulatory dynamics of the payer-provider relationship is required.
In-house strategy experience at a healthcare information technology company — particularly in payments, RCM, data and analytics, or clinical workflow highly valued.
Exceptional quantitative and qualitative skills, including financial modeling, market sizing, and deep understanding of scenario-based strategic frameworks (i.e. where to play/how to win etc.).
Familiarity with pharmacy benefit management or the broader drug supply chain and familiarity with Fintech market and strategy outside of healthcare also a plus.
Outstanding ability to distill and deliver complex multi-stakeholder analyses into executive-quality documents and presentations.
Experience working in or closely with software product management — roadmap prioritization, product-market fit, platform strategy preferred.
Proven ability to collaborate with and influence senior leadership without direct authority in matrixed, fast-paced environments.
Experience developing or evaluating strategy for AI-native or agentic AI-powered healthcare products and services.

Location and Workplace Flexibility
Zelis is headquartered in the U.S., with multiple locations across the country and in Hyderabad, India. Check out our locations to learn more about our offices. All employee work locations are based on the needs of the position and are determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities vary based on work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.
While location expectations vary by role, candidates within approximately 50 miles of a U.S. office are generally preferred to support collaboration when needed. Our hybrid approach is flexible, and in-office presence is guided by team and business needs rather than a fixed weekly schedule.
Base Salary Range
$224,000.00 - $284,050.00At Zelis we are committed to providing fair and equitable compensation packages. The base salary range allows us to make an offer that considers multiple individualized factors, including experience, education, qualifications, as well as job-related and industry-related knowledge and skills, etc. Base pay is just one part of our Total Rewards package, which may also include discretionary bonus plans, commissions, or other incentives depending on the role.
