Job DescriptionThe
Vice President, Commercial Freight Forwarding - Americas must ensure proper alignment between the global strategy, guidelines, and procedures and the business units' execution tasks; and provide guidance and oversight to the business units in the pursuit of their objectives. At the same time the regional head of freight forwarding sales must actively participate in large opportunity sales, sponsor and manage key regional customer relationships, and support the global vertical and key account teams within the ocean and air product.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Coordinate sales efforts and sales focus within the region
- Sales pipeline and funnel management using the CRM
- Coordinate the preparation of sales targets and commercial budgets across the business units
- Facilitate opportunity dissemination and sharing of sales leads across business units and with other regions; as well as cooperation opportunities with other corporate pillars (P&T, Marine, Digital) within the region
- Act as main entry point for cross-regional, or cross-pillar communication as it relates to Freight forwarding commercial
- Lead the trade lane development efforts and support ongoing squads in this regard as well as vertical or kay account squads
- Engage with cargo owners to ensure strong relationship management in coordination with the Commercial team; focusing on face-to-face customer interactions
- Discover new business operations, analyze the contribution to our business and coordinate the resources required to implement new services
- Assess financial and economic issues to identify trade opportunities and risks
- Collaborate with senior management by providing updates and solutions on areas related to the business impact of projects
- Assist with pricing structure and financial models of the different services of DP World Logistics
- Services to assess the future profitability of business opportunities
- Help business units resolve roadblocks or bottlenecks in the normal course of business, and adequately escalate when required
- Promote continuous process improvement across the business units, as well as good practice sharing within the region and with other regions
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE- Minimum 15 years' senior management experience within Freight Forwarding, Logistics, or related industries. In depth knowledge of North and South American regional customer and commodity base, and country market practices
- Successful management of all key stakeholder relationships both internal and external
- Advanced knowledge of logistics process and security procedures and protocols
- Strong negotiator and a self-starter with the ability to adapt to stressful environments by using a sociable but firm approach, as well as engendering trust and integrity
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, develop and encourage others to positively contribute to business goals and objectives
- High level analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills
- Strong commitment to client service excellence with the ability to build solid relationships
- Proficient in Spanish and or Portuguese is a plus
- Proven record of leadership, coaching, and team player
