Full Job Description
OVERVIEW

Hendall seeks a senior business developer who will drive growth to our federal 8(a) joint venture by identifying, sourcing, and closing new contracts in the 8(a)-business space.

With dedicated proposal, pricing, contracts, research, and capture support already in place, the ideal candidate will bring a proven history of identifying, qualifying, capturing, and winning contracts as an 8(a) prime contractor or major subcontractor, with a specific, verifiable track record of successfully obtaining directed and competitive awards for revenue-generating business. The ideal candidate will already have an established network and, preferably, an actionable pipeline they can begin pursuing immediately.

This is a hands-on role requiring close and continuous contact with the opportunities you are pursuing and direct work with the corporate team to get them across the finish line. The ideal candidate must possess the professional acumen to navigate, discuss, and advocate for sole-sourced awards directly with federal Program Managers-effectively educating stakeholders on how to use the 8(a) direct-award process to streamline their acquisition timelines.

Hendall offers an industry-leading incentive structure that rewards successful business development and contract wins. While this is primarily a business development position, successful candidates may also build and lead a division structured around a portfolio of contracts won through their business development efforts.

DUTIES
  • Target, navigate, and secure 8(a) directed and competitive awards.
  • Lead sophisticated, compliant discussions with federals buyers leveraging a comprehensive understanding of the FAR to position Hendall for direct awards.
  • Build and manage an actionable pipeline.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach to the opportunities you pursue, driving win themes and working closely with Hendall's internal proposal, pricing, and contract teams from initial identification to final award.
  • Develop and maintain customer and industry relationships.
  • Build teaming strategies and partner relationships where needed.
  • Help grow Hendall's 8(a) joint venture and broader federal portfolio.
  • Potentially build and lead a division around awarded work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 8 years of federal business development, capture, sales, or growth experience.
  • Verifiable history of personally securing multi-million dollar federal contract wins, with clear emphasis on successful 8(a) awards.
  • Knowledge of the FAR and SBA 8(a) program regulations including sole-sourced direct awards.
  • Active, established network of federal customer and industry professionals.
  • Experience building and managing a federal pipeline.
  • Ability to independently identify and drive opportunities leading to revenue generating wins.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Existing pipeline of actionable federal opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success growing an 8(a), small business, or joint venture portfolio.
  • Experience building a federal business unit or portfolio.
  • Federal program or contract operations experience.

Salary Range: $175,000 to $225,000 per year, plus performance-based incentive compensation tied to business development results and contract awards.
