We are seeking an Audit Manager with 5-9 years of public accounting experience focused on venture capital, private equity, investment companies, alternative investment funds or related clients.
Audit Managers work closely with our Partners and Directors to lead venture capital fund audit engagements from planning through issuance and binder close. Our Venture Capital Fund Audit Practice is a specialized department within the Firm and a leading service provider to the venture fund ecosystem, serving clients across the country and in key financial markets around the world.
Responsibilities- Manage venture capital fund audit engagements from pre-planning through report issuance and binder close with minimal oversight from Directors or Partners;
- Develop audit strategies, risk assessments, engagement plans, staffing plans and timelines that support effective and efficient execution;
- Review audit workpapers, financial statements and related documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with professional standards;
- Identify, research and resolve technical accounting and auditing matters including investment existence, investment valuations, partner allocations, capital activity, distributions, realized events, borrowings, syndication costs and expenses;
- Supervise multiple engagements and engagement teams simultaneously, reallocating sections and resources as needed to keep projects on track;
- Maintain frequent and clear communication with engagement teams, Directors and Partners regarding job status, open items, timeline changes and performance against budgets;
- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for clients throughout the audit lifecycle and respond to client communications in a timely and professional manner;
- Explain technical accounting and auditing matters to engagement teams and client personnel, including their significance and impact on the audit;
- Draft management letter comments and discuss potential findings with clients in a timely, thoughtful and accurate manner;
- Support timely billing, resolution of client billing questions and collection efforts for clients under your responsibility;
- Mentor, train and supervise Associates and Seniors. Uphold the Firm's high standards for team support and guidance; and
- Promote the Firm's mission and culture through both actions and communication.
Qualifications- Current and active CPA license;
- Bachelor's or Master's degree focused in Accounting, Business or a related field;
- 5 - 9 years of public accounting audit experience serving venture capital, private equity, investment companies, or alternative investment funds;
- Strong understanding of GAAP, investment company accounting, audit methodology and risk assessment concepts;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines, teams and client relationships simultaneously;
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor and develop Associates and Seniors;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building and maintaining client relationships;
- Independent thinking, sound professional judgment, strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving; and
- Commitment to integrity, accountability, high-quality work and exceptional client service.
The expected salary range for this position is $140,000 - $175,000 per year for the San Francisco Bay Area. Actual placement within this range is determined by the candidate's experience, qualifications, education, and geographic area.
