This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

General Overview

As a Vehicle Manager at Blue Origin, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the integration, build, and delivery of an assigned vehicle end item or major integrated assembly. Working from the Master Production Schedule, you will translate high-level production plans into actionable, work-center-level tactical schedules while serving as the subject matter expert on build sequence, integration constraints, and technical risks. Your deep integration expertise and rigorous approach to schedule management will drive successful vehicle delivery across complex, high-mix/low-volume production environments where emergent technical and programmatic challenges demand both engineering judgment and decisive leadership. Operating through influence and positional authority - you will align engineering, operations, and support functions from Production Readiness Review through Pre-Ship Review, ensuring every vehicle meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and mission readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and track a rolling 2-week tactical schedule for vehicle integration, accounting for MPS demand and emergent constraints including nonconformances, tooling gaps, material delays, and personnel availability
  • Lead recurring 2-week plan review meetings with stakeholders across operations and support functions
  • Track and report schedule variance between actual execution and baseline performance; develop and present vehicle delivery status for Weekly Business Reviews (WBR) and leadership forums as required
  • Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) on build sequence, integration constraints, and schedule risk - ensuring work follows the best possible sequence at all times
  • Identify, mitigate, and escalate issues threatening work execution or on-time delivery of the assigned vehicle; make priority calls on schedule and risk mitigation in coordination with the Manager
  • Work with Shift Leaders and Managers to resolve emerging issues; escalate unresolved conflicts to Director level as needed
  • Recommend baseline schedule changes only when recovery has been formally determined to be no longer physically achievable; actively support Manager and Shift Leads in recovery planning and execution
  • Maintain current situational awareness of parts, materials, work orders, and dependencies required for vehicle delivery - or know precisely how and where to obtain that status rapidly
  • Coordinate with the Technician Manager to ensure adequate staffing, crane access, floor space, and facilities support are in place to enable integration milestones
  • Optimize the timing of integrated testing activities to protect the vehicle schedule while minimizing downstream impacts to other vehicles and operations
  • Work across all support organizations and engineering teams to drive actions, align priorities, and resolve conflicts in service of vehicle delivery

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, vehicle/system integration, or production operations within an aerospace, defense, or comparably complex manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing detailed production or integration schedules, including rolling short-interval plans
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications
  • Proven ability to identify and drive resolution of technical and programmatic risks in a production environment
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and influence without direct authority

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience integrating launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other complex aerospace vehicle structures
  • Background spanning both Manufacturing Engineering and technical project management
  • Experience operating in high-mix/low-volume, developmental, or early production environments
  • Familiarity with Master Production Schedule (MPS) and ERP/production planning systems (e.g., SAP, MS Project)
  • Formal project management training or certification (PMP or equivalent)
  • Experience developing and presenting schedule performance and risk data to senior leadership
