Who You Are...

As VDC Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and supervising the local VDC department team. This role is expected to identify, monitor, and resolve department issues/budgets and provide subject matter expertise to ensure all projects run efficiently.

This Position...

Some examples of the work you might do includes:
  • Schedules manpower based on project timelines and specific needs.
  • Interprets blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
  • Reviews contract documents for completeness, accuracy, compliance, and planning purposes.
  • Reviews and performs quality control tasks on shop and fabrication drawings.
  • Compiles historical data for record-keeping, analysis, and decision making by key stakeholders.
  • Interfaces between branches to ensure project-related transparency and communication.
  • Facilitates resolution of project-related questions and personnel issues.
  • Develops "best practice" installation methods, and shares them with internal peers.
  • Collaborates with other key stakeholders to resolve planning issues related to job-specific needs.
  • Prioritizes and encourages safety while executing work tasks, especially when at a construction site.
  • Leverages industry/software knowledge to help guide the work of VDC operators on a given project.
  • Performs staff-related administration tasks, such as timecard completion, vacation tracking, etc.
  • Hires, trains, develops, evaluates, and makes all HR-related decisions for direct reports.
  • Helps with the development of project specific profiles per project requirements utilizing the central database, as well as assists in the development of content creation for the central database.
  • Works with the national VDC Manager to create VDC Estimates and budgets for potential future work.
  • Responsible for maintaining and tracking VDC related equipment for direct reports

What You Need...
  • Valid construction license.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 10+ years of industry-specific experience.
  • Familiarity with applicable plumbing and mechanical building codes and safety laws.
  • Advanced-level knowledge of AutoCad, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular).
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) with diverse audiences.
  • Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to effectively work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, as business needs dictate.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a driving record compliant with the Company's policies and MVR requirements, and consent to ongoing driving record monitoring by the Company.
  • Ability to travel locally to attend meetings and conduct site visits.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Trade school completion or Associate's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk fabrication products.

Work Environment:
  • This position operates primarily in an office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, plotters, and printers.
  • Work tasks may occasionally be performed at local job sites, which means intermittent exposure to outside weather and conditions typically associated with a construction site.

Physical Demands:
  • In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive motion, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
  • This is considered a sedentary position, which means possible exertion up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
