Primary Responsibilities:

  • 30% Routine Cardiology Lab Duties: Performs technical and supportive patient care to facilitate patient's noninvasive cardiology diagnostic testing, which includes but is not limited to: Upper and Lower body arterial studies, Bilateral carotid, duplex venous, Duplex Rena, and aortic studies. Performs trans-thoracic echocardiogram studies with M-Mode, 2D, Doppler, and color flow, stress echocardiogram studies, contrast echocardiogram studies, Holter monitoring, Event monitoring, trans-telephonic pacemaker checks, EKGs, blood pressure monitoring, immediate recognition of lethal arrhythmias, seeking physician intervention as outlined in KSC Cardi Lab policies and procedures. Understands and applies technical principles affecting optimal production of sonographic images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting final product. Understands age related communication needs of patients and is able to effectively convey instructions to patients to facilitate the performance of studies
  • 15% Participates in Technical Quality Control measures, which include performance of routine equipment maintenance and reporting malfunctions or variances in equipment performance to the Department Supervisor or his/her designee in the supervisor's absence. Maintains necessary supplies and documentation of cleaning logs as applicable
  • 15% Uses RIS system correctly, according to Clinic and Department guidelines and properly documents, for the cardiologist's review, atypical conditions, which could affect image quality and/or content. Input study information into PACS. Understands PACS system and can identify problems with image transmission as they occur and notify Cardi Lab Supervisor or Ancillary Testing Manager when corrective actions are beyond the scope of the technologist
  • 20% Demonstrates ability to work with minimal supervision, being self-directed in daily tasks. Supports initiatives related to meeting OSHA and AAAHC standards. Assists with Code Blue. Responds to coded, brings crash cart with defibrillator, and any other necessary equipment, as needed. When appropriate provides CPR and/or places patients on monitor. Provides any other assistance as requested within training limitations. Conscious of ultrasound safety measures, uses aseptic and/or sterile technique when necessary and complies with all KSC safety measures
  • 10% Participates in formal and in-service training programs of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, department specific in services, and any applicable site-specific training. Maintains current applicable licenses and/or certifications and complies with continuing education requirements necessary to maintain same. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties
  • 10% Interacts effectively with patients and coworkers, including staff assigned to other locations. Communicates readily and well with Supervisor, Coordinator and Cardiologists in giving and receiving feedback. Must have the ability to understand and respond to questions by giving factual information. Capable of dealing effectively with other clinic departments, physicians, and staff. Uses the Mission and Values as a guideline for all communications, verbal, written, or electronic

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited program
  • RDCS or RCS and RVT or RVS
  • BCLS certification
  • 1+ years of direct clinical experience in all phases of echocardiography and vascular studies. Demonstrated ability to perform echocardiography studies to the satisfaction of the Kelsey-Seybold Cardiologists OR will accept graduates with 6+ months clinical rotations through an accredited echo and/or vascular sonography program and hiring department can provide direct supervision for 3 months. Applicant must demonstrate ability to perform echocardiography and vascular studies to the satisfaction of the Kelsey-Seybold Cardiologists
  • Basic computer, CRT, and typing experience
  • May be required to work extended shifts in situations deemed necessary by the Cardiology Lab Supervisor or the Exercise Physiologist Coordinator


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in related healthcare field
  • Bachelor's degree in related health field
  • 2+ years of experience performing vascular or echocardiography
  • PACS and RIS experience
  • GE Ultrasound, Phillips Ultrasound, Parks Flo Lab and Unitexis equipment familiarity
  • Proven excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Speaks an additional language


Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29 - $52 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
