Job Summary

The Value Stream Steam Operations Manager III is responsible for supporting VS Directors in implementation, execution, and completion of Live Outage for specific technologies and/or fleets. It is a combination of planning and execution support for outages, content development and refinement for the Live Outage platform, content publication for upcoming outages, and metrics maintenance for the fleets.

The Operations Manager engages in global technology and/or fleet readiness rhythms targeted to escalating execution risks and driving strategic actions on tooling, resources, and procedures across functions and regions for the relevant fleets.

The Operations Manager partners with and presents to stakeholders at all levels including the OFS CEO and Functional/Region GM's across the enterprise in addition to working closely with Operations, P&L Engineering, P&L Methods, OFS Tooling, OFS Resources and Region Operations team to operate to standard and make breakthrough improvements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Directs the continuous improvement of the end-end value stream for specific product lines, while contributing the Value Stream strategy in partnership with the Value Stream Director. Examples of specific activities include:
    • Support Live Outage events including: event scope definition, event planning, associated methods / tooling / skill requirements, corresponding event staffing quantity and timing, resulting schedule, duration and labor hours target and corresponding outage standards. Value stream ownership continues through mobilization, execution, closeout, and continuous improvement.
    • Identify and develop improvement of outage standards and check list content for every product and scope to the appropriate level of detail to achieve consistent Safety, Quality, Delivery, Costs (SQDC) outcomes. Standard work spanning all documents/systems and all phases of service planning and delivery.
    • Create and manage current and future state value stream/process maps for each technology-scope value streams, as well as more detailed mapping for specific activities along the value stream.
    • Develops value stream/process maps to contribute to a kaizen calendar and other improvement projects to reach future state and breakthrough results at component, process, and value stream level.
    • Partners with the Lean for Field Service team to identify and integrate improvements across the value stream
  • Drives breakthrough year-on-year results in SQDC through lean by supporting the resulting value stream bowler (scorecard) and action plan (hoshin kanri/kaizen calendar) execution, communication, and results (kpi).
  • Responsible for publication of Live Outage content (checklists, visual management, populating crew lists) for different technology/fleet outages (additional fleets to be added as they are developed). Assists in P6 to LO schedule conversion for upcoming outages
  • Conducts outage performance metrics review sessions with ongoing outages for SQDC and Live Outage targets
  • Manages the Suggested Improvements queue and routes suggestions to relevant function groups or implements the suggestions her/himself
  • Prepares and participates in internal post outage reviews focusing on LO platform, tooling, sequencing, and general financial performance
  • Drives accurate invoicing and timely project closeout working with finance, billing, and business operations teams
  • Supports Technology/Fleet Value Stream Director(s) in planning activities for outages. Provides daily management support to the Technology/Fleet Value Stream Director for ongoing outages
  • Partners with the VS Directors in maintaining the Live Outage Info Hub pages for the appropriate fleets with updates, additions, and changes
  • Must be able to travel domestic & international
  • Visits sites to train personnel and set up or help troubleshoot the Live Outage platform and fleet-specific tooling (minimum 4 per year)
  • May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision, and support customers in alignment with our organization's core values.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field with minimum seven years of Field Engineer or Project management experience. Additional years of experience in power generation can be substituted for degree.
  • 7+ years progressive experience and demonstrated success/knowledge in gas turbine maintenance
  • Strong experience in power generation and field services experience in Heavy Duty Gas and/or Steam Turbine maintenance
  • Experience with Primavera and Job Cost Estimators required
  • English proficiency required

Desired Characteristics:
  • Deep knowledge and experience with D11 steam turbines and generator technologies
  • High proficiency with the Live Outage platform and deep knowledge of Value Stream initiatives
  • Experience with Lean methodologies
  • Self-starter, results-driven, dynamic
  • Works well both independently and in a team environment, including in remote work settings
  • Demonstrated results leading outage improvement activities such as productivity tooling and developing cost remediation projects and programs
  • Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Skills in budgeting, scheduling, and task/cost optimization, through software such as Office/Primavera/Project preferred
  • Strong project planning and organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently

  • Excellent communication and management skills, strong interpersonal and influencing skills; ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Former Field Engineer or Outage Manager

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual salary range for this position is $103,200 to $173,400. This is an exempt from overtime position. FieldCore benefits include insurance (medical, dental, vision, disability, and life), retirement savings, health and Wellness reimbursement, and a bonus or incentive program. Eligibility for FieldCore benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable benefits plan.
