Who will you be working with?

As a member of Wabtec's Lean Operations team, you will partner closely with plant leadership, frontline associates, functional leaders, and the broader Continuous Improvement organization to drive operational excellence across the facility. This role reports directly to the Group Lean Leader with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager. You will serve as a trusted coach, mentor, and change leader, working side-by-side with teams to build lean capabilities, strengthen problem-solving disciplines, and drive sustainable business results through the Wabtec Management System.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Lean Operations organization, you will be responsible for leading the site's lean transformation journey while developing leadership capabilities and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

The Value Stream Coach serves as a strategic partner to plant leadership, helping teams improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction through the application of lean principles and practices. This role provides hands-on coaching, mentoring, and facilitation to leaders and associates while supporting the implementation and sustainability of the Wabtec Management System. The successful candidate will develop lean management capabilities throughout the organization, facilitate continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure operational excellence is embedded into daily business processes. Regular communication of progress, priorities, and performance outcomes will be shared with plant leadership and corporate lean leadership teams.

What do we want to know about you?
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience leading lean transformation initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success driving organizational change and developing lean leadership capabilities across all levels of an organization.
  • Deep understanding and practical application of Lean Manufacturing and Toyota Production System (TPS) principles.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining pull systems, flow, kanban, and other lean operating practices.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach, mentor, and develop leaders and teams through hands-on engagement.
  • Experience facilitating kaizen events, Daily Management systems, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong project and program management experience with a track record of delivering measurable results.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college preferred.
  • Prior manufacturing leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and gain buy-in from stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10%.

What will your typical day look like?
  • Coach and develop plant leaders to strengthen lean leadership capabilities, change management skills, and execution of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead implementation and sustainability of the Wabtec Management System and associated lean operating disciplines.
  • Facilitate Daily Management processes, kaizen events, A3 problem-solving activities, and value stream mapping workshops.
  • Partner with plant leadership to develop and execute continuous improvement strategies focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coach teams on standard work, visual management, flow, pull systems, and waste elimination principles.
  • Monitor operational performance and support achievement of production, efficiency, and business objectives.
  • Build organizational capability through training, mentoring, and hands-on application of lean tools and methodologies.
  • Lead and support strategic initiatives assigned by the Group Lean Leader and broader Operations leadership team.

What about the physical demands of the job?
  • Frequent walking throughout manufacturing, warehouse, and office environments.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while observing operations and facilitating improvement activities.
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ladders, or access elevated work platforms in accordance with site safety requirements.
  • Ability to visually inspect equipment, processes, production metrics, and operational performance indicators.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in office and manufacturing environments, including speaking, hearing, and presenting to groups.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working within manufacturing areas.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Location

This position will be based out of the Wabtec facility located at 5406 E. El Campo Grande Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89115, approximately three miles south of Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
