As a UX Researcher on the Shopper Experience team, you will provide breakthrough insights based on the analysis and synthesis of user needs, corporate strategies, product capabilities and market opportunities. You will champion the user, delivering clear point-of-views, telling compelling stories, and identifying clear use cases that inform design and strategy.
The research projects you lead will impact shoppers under the entire umbrella of Albertsons brands. Projects range from early concept testing of new shopping ideas, commerce flows across channels, new initiatives about to come to market, and checking the usability pulse of the current digital / omnichannel projects in production. You'll partner with product managers, UX designers, UX copy writers, and other researchers on this noble mission.

Responsibilities:
Research Execution
  • 80% Qualitative testing, 20% Survey or Information Architecture methods
  • Work with project teams to identify needs & build research objectives
  • Construct test plans, screeners, discussion guides, and a variety of report deliverables
  • Provide analysis of research data and create highlight reels with actionable recommendations
  • Evangelize research methodologies and approaches across cross-functional teams
Design Collaboration
  • Elevating strategy - connecting design concepts to cross-domain business needs
  • Participate in prototype guidance and ramp up designers on testing frameworks
  • Collaborate with the product team to clarify or enhance design objectives
  • Enthusiastically encourages the work of the team even when pivoting as needed - accepting of failure while ensuring that impact of learnings is well institutionalized
Required Qualifications:
  • B.A. degree: advanced degree in social sciences - Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Anthropology, Sociology, Ethnography, or relevant equivalent experience
  • 2+ years conducting quantitative on-line research methodologies on front-end user experiences
  • Proficiency in standard UX research techniques: moderated interviews, usability testing, awareness & comprehension probes, ethnography and other primary user research.
  • Demonstrated experience translating user research into actionable insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a team player, comfortable working in "white space" and with ambiguity; with this new team, roles will evolve and one must be willing to take on incremental responsibilities

Bonus Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of human-centered innovation approaches, e.g., design thinking
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: ability to explore opportunities in a structured yet iterative way
  • Experience with lean startup, agile, or similar development approaches
  • Creative problem-solving skills & ability to see paths forward that are unclear to others
  • Design experience: ability to visualize concepts, create mock-ups/prototypes
  • Experience with design software, e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Sketch, Figma
  • Ability to think strategically about customer needs, market dynamics, & business impact
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to test fast and learn fast
