Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
  • Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquires, 1:1 interviews, unmoderated research studies).

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Arts/Science or PhD in a data/evidence based field (e.g. social sciences) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 2 years of experience conducting UX research on products, managing projects, and working in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Experience with variety of research methodologies, to effectively balance capabilities across a various team of researchers.
  • Mixed methods research experience with track record of quantitative research alongside qualitative.

At Google, we "Focus on the user and all else will follow." As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you make this possible. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to gather insights and create industry-leading products.

You'll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow within a supportive User experience researchers (UXR) community offering mentorship, regular meetups, and exclusive internal tools.Labs is a group focused on incubating early-stage efforts in support of Google's mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Responsibilities
  • Operate in a dynamic environment with a goal to build new experiences that offer users meaningful value in a 0-1 product.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering and Design stakeholders to understand product research needs, identify research opportunities, and deliver clear and actionable research findings that drive product strategy and new features, effectively prioritizing data/evidence needs from myriad cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Build strong partnerships with peers and stakeholders to maximize the impact of research.
  • Scope, design and execute research studies using a range of methods (e.g., controlled lab experiments, qualitative interviews, surveys, A/B testing).
  • Create compelling deliverables that help drive insights into product strategy and product actions.
