UX Engineer I (UI/UX Designer Specialist I) - PRD145
Duties and Responsibilities to be performed by the consultant
Job description:
- Consulting with stakeholders to understand business goals
- Helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution, as part of a team of problem solvers
- Designing, developing and implementing both client and internal facing applications and providing technology tools that help drive NYS strategic initiatives
- Using enterprise architecture across application areas to build delivery models that map capabilities to business needs outlined by NYS
- Using multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations
- Addressing defects and enhancements as part of the application support lifecycle
- Participating in incident resolution post implementation as required
- Creating and carrying out user research plans (i.e., surveys, interviews, focus groups, etc.), as well as explaining user research results to internal and external stakeholders
- Planning and facilitating design thinking workshops (i.e., journey mapping, user needs modeling, etc.)
- Creating UX deliverables (i.e., user models and scenarios, sketches, user stories, user flows, wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps)
- Creating and iterating on interactive user experience prototypes that require coding
- Planning and conducting usability testing, analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to improve the user experience
- Working closely with developers to bring designs to life and iteratively improve solutions
- Collecting quantitative and qualitative UX metrics that support usability validation
- Assisting with content development
- Designing for multi-device web, iOS, and Android contexts
- Other duties as assigned
Consultants may be eligible to telecommute for more than 50% of their work hours, up to and including 100% remote work. Telecommuting arrangements require direct manager approval and are subject to change based on program needs. Consultants approved for 100% remote work must attend monthly in-person meetings at the Albany office and be available for major milestone meetings as needed.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Level I- Between three (3) and seven (7) years of experience as a UX Engineer
- Five to seven years of experience in UI/UX engineering on full life cycle of design deliverables including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, story boards and user surveys.
- One to two years working in an Integrated Eligibility System Program in various workstreams in a Health and Human Service setting.
Desirable Qualifications
- One to two years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.
- One to two years of experience with user research, user modeling and usability testing.
- One to two years of experience with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript.
