Utilities Right of Way Agent - Charlottesville, VA

Department: Right of Way Professional

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Remote - VA

Reporting To: Aaron McLaughlin

Compensation: $64,374 - $101,702 / year

Description

Location: Charlottesville, VA (candidate will have the flexibility to work out of their home office but must reside within a 50-mile radius of Charlottesville, VA)

Schedule: Full-time, Exempt

Travel: Candidate can expect to travel about 50% of the time locally and throughout Virginia

What You'll Do
  • Acquire right-of-way rights for distribution and electrical transmission line projects in accordance with project guidelines and regulations
  • Support the Project Manager and project team members
  • Prepare real estate documents
  • Conduct property research for ownership and boundary information
  • Communicate with property owners and their representatives regarding right of way acquisition
  • Perform general administrative tasks that keep projects moving

  • Utilities Agent 2 - $73,344 - $87,567 | Minimum of 3 years Right of Way acquisition experience
  • Utilities Agent 3 - $85,220 - $101,702 | Minimum of 5 years of Right of Way acquisition experience

Fieldwork may require walking over uneven terrain, standing, or navigating outdoor environments, with routine exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and snow. The role also involves frequent interaction with a diverse range of individuals, including landowners, government officials, and members of the public, requiring the ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism across differing personalities and potentially challenging situations. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to accommodate travel, site access, and stakeholder availability, along with adherence to safety protocols in both office and field settings.
