Note: This role is for a 12 month term

JOB OVERVIEW

The NDT Technician is responsible for performing equipment calibrations and non-destructive tests as well as evaluating, documenting and reporting results in accordance with applicable aircraft and component NDT manuals, written instructions, codes and specifications. The role requires the ability to set up and calibrate equipment, perform various NDT inspections, accurately interpret inspection results against relevant standards and operate within the scope and limitations of each certified NDT method.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Calibration

  • Calibrate testing equipment and interpret results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications


Testing and Evaluation

  • Conduct Ultrasonic (UT), Eddy Current (ET), Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT) and Radiographic (RT) inspections on aircraft, engines, and related components in accordance with applicable NDT method requirements to ensure quality and to detect defects.
  • Ensure test criteria is applied in accordance with applicable specifications, codes or standards
  • Ensure testing outcomes are evaluated for acceptance or rejection, organized, and reported in writing per company policy
  • Assist in the establishment of techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Project Supervisor, Customer, NDT Supervisor and Management about identification and interpretation of test results, work priorities and progress of projects
  • Actively participate in company safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.


REQUIREMENTS

  • CGSB Level II Certifications in ET and/or UT are essential
  • CGSB Level II Certifications in PT and MT are an asset
  • CGSB Level I RT (EMC) or Level II RT (Aircraft Structures) is an asset
  • NAS 410 Level 2 ET/UT/PT/MT/RT may be considered
  • 5 years of experience performing NDT inspections
  • The successful candidate will be expected to obtain NAS 410 and/or CGSB qualification in the method(s) they are not certified
  • Ability to interpret drawings and other authoritative publications for NDT inspections
  • Flexibility to travel away from base
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good report writing capabilities
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable working with little to no supervision
  • Must be comfortable working at heights for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to obtain confined space qualification

The role includes annual performance and wage reviews, as well as eligibility for endorsement pay following the issuance of a Shop Certification Authority. Endorsement pay increases with each additional NDT certification ($0.50 - $2.00 per ticket) on top of a base wage $75,337 - $92,851.20 based on experience and qualifications. The upper end of the range reflects full job proficiency.

SALARY

The wage band is level 8, $75,337 - $92,851.20 annually, depending on knowledge and experience. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge
