The Space and Intelligence Division provides professional services to the US Space Force, Combatant Commands, Intelligence Community, and NASA. The Strategic Technology Analysis Group, part of SPA’s Space and Intelligence Division, offers sophisticated capabilities (people, process & tools) to resolve unique problems in space, cyber, and special operations in support to military services, Secretary of Defense offices (OSD) and theater warfighters.  Our portfolio includes the Assistant Secretary of Air Force for Space Acquisition & Integration (SAF/SQ), Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC), Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP), National Space Defense Center (NSDC), Space Warfighting Analysis Center (SWAC), Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO), US Space Command (USSPACECOM) and US Space Force (USSF).  Come be a part of a high-speed low-drag organization providing unique and tailored solutions for our National Defense!

 

SPA has an immediate need for a USSPACECOM Senior Technical Advisor.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support HQ USSPACECOM by providing specialized mission expertise in one of the following domains: Space Domain Awareness, Orbital Warfare, or Command & Control. SPA is looking for the best-qualified professional in any of these disciplines to drive the Command’s requirements and capability development efforts.

 

The key duties associated with this position include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Guide cross-domain studies and analyses that support decision makers’ information gaps and needs which are specifically tailored to the 3- and 4-star levels.
  • Provide space system engineering assessments and analysis in support of current and future US architectures aligned to USSPACECOM mission priorities.
  • Provide operational expertise to USSPACECOM/CAST and Chief Scientist to support the assessment, defense, and ranking of S&T priorities.
  • Assist in developing Integrated Priority List and Unfunded Priority List products for USSPACECOM Space Domain Awareness, Orbital Warfare, or Command & Control mission sets.
  • Prepare and deliver appropriately formatted briefings and point papers aimed at integrating and gaining advocacy for combatant command requirements, including a summation of key issues and recommendations to facilitate program decisions, briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions.
  • Analyze program data, documentation, warfighting plans, strategies, Concepts of Operations, and Operations Concepts; develop recommendations for requirements modifications for existing programs and new requirements in support of future programs.
  • Develop and provide recommendations to maximize resources, including advocacy strategies for critical missions to compete within USSPACECOM / USSF / Office of the Secretary of War governance processes.
  • Coordinate with organizations such as Geographic and Functional Combatant Commands, Combat Forces Command, Space Warfighting Analysis Center, Federally Funded Research and Development Corporations, various Department of War agencies and analytic centers, System Program Offices / Centers (e.g., Department of the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office), NRO, Missile Defense Agency, Service Staffs, and other US agencies and mission partners.
  • Attend conferences and other technical exchanges and provide reports as required.
  • Collaborate and integrate across diverse teams to achieve insightful analytic findings that aid decision makers.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Current and active TS/SCI at time of application; willingness to take a poly
  • Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or Space-related discipline
  • 10+ years of leading and integrating DoW and IC system engineering, operations research, and/or cross-domain studies and analysis
  • Thorough and nuanced understanding of USSF and USSPACECOM processes, organizations, and dependencies
  • Thorough understanding of the space domain to include astrodynamics, aero engineering, space system engineering, RF, optics, and directed energy applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and writing) skills with experience using critical thinking to prepare written reports and presentations for decision makers
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to plan, work, and deliver both independently and as part of a diverse team focused on delivering critical assessments for decision makers
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally interact with staff members and executive leadership via both verbal and written means

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • PhD in STEM or Space Operations
  • NASIC/NSIC, MSIC intel assessment experience or other Combatant Command experience
  • Space Systems Command, NRO, or similar organizational space system engineering experience
  • Business Development/capture experience
