The Role

The Program Manager for this roll shall have responsibility for all aspects of the AUKUS USIS project and authority for tasking, work, products, schedules, budgets and specific courses of action and serve as the focal point for subcontractor contracts, if utilized.
  • The Manager shall participate, as a Shipbuilder representative, in working groups, Integrated Project Team (IPT) meetings, other meetings and conferences, technical exchanges, special advisory boards, offsites, and audit teams needed to support the USIS program.
  • This Manager shall deliver the monthly Contract Status Report (Program Management in conjunction with Engineering IDT Leads);
    • Spending (manhours) to plan
    • Resource Assessment for next 90 days
    • Identification of Issues that could impact completion of the task
    • Proposed process improvements (as identified)
    • Inputs into Quarterly Program Reviews as requested by I&A
    • Identification of proposed travel over the next 90 days.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Performs analyses and prepares reports in order to ensure that contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon parameters and government cost control guidelines.
  • Prepares budgets and schedules for contract work and performs and/or assists in financial analyses such as funding profiles, sales outlook, and variance analysis.
  • Prepares program plans to ensure program requirements and statement of work are captured and scheduled. Performs schedule risk assessments to identify and mitigate program cost and scheduling risks.
  • Ensures adequate funding availability by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation of expenditure projections, and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the government. Incorporates contractual changes into control systems by staying aware of outstanding work against each contract in order to maintain realistic contract cost and schedule baselines.


Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience


Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of submarine design and construction
  • Previous experience in an international program or other off-site facilities/programs
  • Previous experience in the startup of a new submarine program development effort
  • Previous experience with working with PEO I&A and BAE Systems
