Used Boat Buyer / Marine Sales Specialist

Rochester, MN | Full-Time, Year-Round

$75,000-$95,000+ Annual Earnings | Base Salary + Commission

Can you walk around a boat, evaluate its condition, recognize potential concerns, and understand what buyers are willing to pay?

River Valley Marine is hiring a Used Boat Buyer / Marine Sales Specialist for our Rochester location. This position is ideal for someone who understands boats, enjoys negotiating deals, and can build strong relationships with boat owners looking to sell, trade, consign, or upgrade.

You will help source and evaluate pre-owned boats, negotiate purchases and consignment agreements, manage online listings, and support used boat sales. You will also be expected to actively market yourself, develop customer relationships, and build your own book of business. Your work will directly influence the quality, profitability, and growth of River Valley's used boat inventory.

Candidates may come from marine sales, marine service, boat appraisal, automotive or RV purchasing, powersports dealerships, inventory acquisition, or other high-value sales environments.

Compensation
  • Base salary plus commission

What You'll Do
  • Source used boats through private sellers, trade-ins, referrals, online opportunities, and dealership relationships
  • Communicate with boat owners through phone, email, Facebook Marketplace, Messenger, and other digital channels
  • Inspect and evaluate boat condition, features, maintenance history, market demand, and resale potential
  • Research market values and establish appropriate acquisition and resale pricing
  • Negotiate boat purchases, trade values, and consignment agreements
  • Build and maintain a desirable and profitable used boat inventory
  • Manage the acquisition process from initial contact through purchase or consignment completion
  • Create and maintain accurate, appealing online boat listings
  • Build and grow your own book of business through proactive customer outreach, referrals, relationship-building, and self-marketing
  • Use Facebook, Facebook Marketplace, social media, and other digital platforms to identify opportunities, promote inventory, and connect with prospective buyers and sellers
  • Develop a consistent personal marketing presence that supports River Valley's brand and generates new boat acquisition and sales opportunities
  • Assist customers throughout the buying, selling, trading, and consignment process
  • Support used boat sales opportunities, dealership events, and customer follow-up
  • Maintain accurate titles, contracts, documentation, and transaction records
  • Coordinate with sales, service, parts, and leadership to prepare acquired boats for resale
  • Ensure used boats are professionally presented, accurately represented, and positioned to sell

Preferred Experience

Experience using Facebook Marketplace, online listing platforms, CRM systems, LightspeedEVO, DP360, Excel, or similar dealership software is a plus.

Schedule
  • Full-time, year-round position
  • Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
  • A weekday off is provided when working Saturday
