USA - Tax - Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) - Financial Services Organization (FSO) - Technology Advisory - Analyst

Will you shape the future or will the future shape you?

The opportunity

Join our dynamic EY Tax team, where our global expertise and deep technical knowledge across all tax disciplines are enhanced by the latest in innovation and cutting-edge technology. We pride ourselves on exceptional client service, strong accountability, and governance, making us the top choice for industry executives and the largest revenue-generating US and global tax practice.

Our Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) team offers services to enhance the operational efficiency of tax functions and the delivery of technical services, supported by a team of over 1,200 professionals. Our core focus areas include transforming tax functions, integrating with finance and business processes, and optimizing enterprise systems, all bolstered by strategic alliances. We aim to revolutionize tax and finance operations through strategy development, digitalization, and leveraging technology to automate compliance, reporting, and provide valuable insights to our clients.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Technology Advisory Analyst within FSO TTT, you will help financial services organizations transform their tax functions through technology-enabled solutions, data-driven processes, automation, analytics and emerging technologies. FSO TTT embraces a "Forward Deployed Engineer" model to bring the right mix of technology skill sets to our clients to best integrate and update their processes with AI.

You will learn how technology is reshaping the tax function and how to become a trusted advisor who can translate business needs into practical technology solutions. You will work with teams that design, build, configure, test and support tools and processes that help clients improve data quality, automate manual work, generate insights and manage complex tax workflows. You may participate directly with clients in strategy meetings, requirements sessions, demonstrations and workshops. Our clients are located nationwide, so travel may be a part of the role.

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Technology Advisory Analyst in the FSO TTT practice may include:

  • Supporting the design, configuration, testing and implementation of tax technology solutions, applications and data-enabled processes.

  • Exploring opportunities to streamline repetitive processes through automation, workflow tools, data transformation and emerging technology solutions.

  • Assisting with data acquisition, cleansing, transformation, integration and analysis to support tax reporting, compliance and advisory processes.

  • Developing and enhancing reports, dashboards and analytics that improve visibility into client processes, risks, status and opportunities.

  • Providing project support to team members, including documenting requirements, tracking tasks, preparing deliverables and helping ensure timely project execution.

  • Investigating and applying cutting-edge technologies, including generative AI and machine learning, to support relevant business cases, prototypes and client solutions.

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related technology-oriented field; or a business, accounting, finance, or economics major and a double major/minor in a technology-related field, supported by a strong academic record.

  • 3.0 cumulative college/university GPA.

  • Excellent communication, business-writing, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity about technology, and an entrepreneurial approach to identifying practical solutions.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the confidence to prioritize your workload within tight deadlines.

  • The flexibility to work consistently, both individually and as part of a focused team.

  • A foundational understanding of data management, databases, analytics, programming, automation or systems concepts, with an interest in applying those skills to solve business and tax challenges.

  • An interest working in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.

  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver's license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.

  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.

  • You must reside within a commutable distance of the office location associated with this position.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, now and in the future.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Cumulative college/university GPA of 3.2 or above.

  • Experience or coursework involving Python, SQL, Java, data modeling, cloud platforms, visualization tools, machine learning, AI, process automation, systems implementation, requirements analysis or agile delivery.

  • Experience with technology projects, coding projects, analytics projects, case competitions, internships, research, student organizations or other experiences that demonstrate an ability to build, analyze, automate or improve processes using technology.
