Role summary:
Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role drives the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility. You will collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality solutions, mentor engineers, and influence technical decisions. By leveraging data-driven practices and continuous improvement, you will ensure alignment with business goals while fostering engineering excellence and innovation within a dynamic and evolving environment.
About the team:
The Marketplace Engineering team at Walmart Global Tech drives innovation in global commerce through the Walmart Marketplace platform. This team develops advanced tools that enable sellers to efficiently manage digital storefronts, pricing, and inventory while ensuring excellent customer experiences. They design intelligent, resilient systems covering the entire seller lifecycle and integrate with partner platforms across Walmart's ecosystem. Focused on scalable, data-driven solutions, the team applies expertise in software design, cloud-native architecture, and DevOps to deliver reliable services that empower sellers and enhance shopping for millions worldwide.
What you'll do:
  • Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
  • Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
  • Lead system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
  • Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and automation features using multiple programming languages.
  • Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience in full software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns for secure, maintainable, and modular solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead platform engineering efforts, delivering infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with strategic roadmaps.
  • Skilled in mentoring engineers, influencing architectural decisions, and fostering technical growth within teams.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills to define success metrics and optimize engineering processes.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
