Role summary:
The (USA) Software Engineer III plays a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering scalable software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management and user experience. This position involves troubleshooting complex issues, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring high-quality code through rigorous testing and continuous integration practices. The role requires managing project requirements, driving technical solutions, and supporting business needs while mentoring small engineering groups. The engineer contributes to innovation by adopting emerging technologies and maintaining adherence to security and quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.

The Sam's Club Loyalty team develops systems and experiences that engage over 35 million members annually, focusing on cashback rewards and intelligent renewal journeys that demonstrate clear membership value. This technology-driven team leverages data and experimentation to redefine loyalty within a membership model. Their work integrates behavioral economics, real-time personalization, and value demonstration to deliver timely savings and enhance member satisfaction. What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define high-level designs and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-quality code following coding standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production and business issues through root cause analysis and effective problem-solving.
  • Lead small engineering groups by providing guidance, documentation, and support to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Implement automation scripts and telemetry features to enhance continuous integration and deployment processes.
  • Conduct unit testing, defect management, and regression testing to ensure software reliability and performance.
  • Monitor application performance and recommend improvements to optimize system stability and scalability.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery within Agile environments.
  • Strong technical acumen with proficiency in object-oriented programming and API design.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Experience managing small to large-sized projects, translating requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Skilled in continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes and automation scripting.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS, and mobile application frameworks.
  • Ability to lead and mentor small engineering teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Strong documentation, testing, and debugging capabilities to ensure high-quality software delivery.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
