What you'll do...
Role summary:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative Data Scientist to design, develop and implement production-grade Agentic AI, advanced machine learning solutions at enterprise scale. You will translate ambiguous business questions into measurable problems, build models and data products end to end, and communicate clear insights that influence decisions across the business.
The successful candidate will collaborate across functions to translate business challenges into data solutions, support data quality and governance standards, and mentor junior team members. Proficiency in programming, data management, and visualization tools is essential to deliver actionable insights that drive strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
About the team:

The Sam's Club Applied AI Team collaborates closely with supply chain and replenishment units to transform end-to-end systems. This team applies critical thinking and data-driven approaches to solve complex challenges and enhance operational efficiency. Members possess expertise in data analytics, strategy, and execution, working together to design innovative supply chain solutions. The team values continuous improvement and leverages advanced technologies to shape the future of supply chain and replenishment, ultimately aiming to improve the experience for members. What you'll do:
  • Apply advanced statistical, machine learning, and agentic AI techniques to develop and validate analytical models that address complex business challenges.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature selection, and hypothesis testing to derive actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Support deployment, scalability, and sustainability of models in production environments.
  • Develop, test, and maintain code using Python, SQL, and related tools to ensure data quality and model performance.
  • Communicate findings through effective data visualization and storytelling to influence business decisions.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven experience building and deploying Agentic AI, OR and ML models for real-world applications, including performance tuning, validation, and A/B testing.
  • Proficiency in advanced statistical methods, exploratory data analysis, and feature selection for analytical modeling.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, plus experience with common ML libraries and open-source frameworks such as ADK, LangGraph, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
  • Hands-on experience working with large datasets, distributed compute, and production data pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of business requirements and ability to translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Excellent academic or industrial track record of proposing, conducting, and reporting results of original research, plus collaborative research with publications.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
