Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a U.S. Account Leader (AL) with demonstrated relationships with ExxonMobil. The AL for this Key Client in the Energy Market Sector will lead a diverse, energized, and focused team aligned around the client's current organization, our existing business engagements, and the pursuit of high-value growth opportunities.

This role is based in the greater Houston area proximate to the client's global headquarters. The AL will report to the Account Executive. Working under the direction of the Account Executive, the Sector Executive, and Services Leadership, the AL will be responsible for developing and implementing the account strategy in the U.S., driving profitable organic growth, and leading the account team in growing Arcadis' share of client business in established services.

This role requires frequent client engagement with an emphasis on building and maintaining strong relationships through regular in-person meetings at the client's office.

Role accountabilities:

The successful candidate will serve as Arcadis' primary relationship manager for ExxonMobil, with a strong focus on delivering an exceptional client experience while expanding and diversifying Arcadis' service offerings. This role is responsible for building and strengthening relationships across ExxonMobil's enterprise, creating trusted partnerships, increasing awareness of Arcadis' capabilities, and positioning Arcadis as a valued strategic advisor.

A key aspect of the role involves developing a deep understanding of ExxonMobil's business objectives, industry trends, and competitive landscape. The Account Lead will work closely with teams across Arcadis to identify opportunities, develop differentiated solutions, and execute effective growth and pursuit strategies that align with the client's priorities.

The individual will establish and monitor key account goals and performance metrics to demonstrate sustainable value to ExxonMobil and its customers. They will be responsible for maintaining an accurate and forward-looking pipeline of opportunities, ensuring visibility into growth prospects and supporting strategic account planning.

The role also carries accountability for the successful delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed profitably, with exceptional quality, and in accordance with agreed schedules and budgets. This includes proactively addressing challenges, implementing best practices, and continuously improving delivery performance.

In addition, the Account Lead will foster a positive and high-performing account team culture built on growth, accountability, collaboration, and health and safety. They will mentor and support project teams, helping develop talent and enabling both individual and team success. Ensuring continuity within the account leadership team is also critical, with a focus on maintaining the right mix of talent, expertise, and institutional knowledge to sustain growth and consistently deliver value to the client.

Finally, the successful candidate will oversee contract administration and ensure compliance with Arcadis' internal processes, governance requirements, and reporting obligations related to services delivered to ExxonMobil.

Key Shared Responsibilities:
  • Development of a client account strategy aligned with the client's business objectives and sector strategy through annual and multi-year planning. Communication of the account strategy and updates to the strategy to the account team.
  • Engagement in disciplined Go/No-Go assessments of opportunities, qualifies leads that are aligned with our ability to win and key business and risk objectives.
  • Collaboration with Services and Operations teams to develop differentiated service, value propositions and commercial models for account and pursuits.
  • Recruiting, developing, and managing employees; coaching and mentoring to achieve high performance, growth, and personal development.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • A degree in a relevant industry discipline, with direct experience supporting ExxonMobil through applicable services and solutions. Experience as an account leader or program manager in an engineering consultancy or professional services firm is essential.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in client development and service delivery, including at least 5 years in a country or regional account leadership role, demonstrating strategic leadership and vision.
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, challenge the status quo, and drive innovation and growth of key accounts.
  • Being located in the greater Houston area with a willingness to frequently travel to ExxonMobil's offices and project sites.

Additional Desired Experience:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong advocacy for health & safety practices, visibly championing these principles in the workplace.
  • Proficiency in embracing digital tools and standardized approaches (e.g., Global Excellence Centers) to enhance and streamline service delivery.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $148,800 - 223,300. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
