Full Job Description
Boston Government Services (BGS) is seeking an Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Safety Technical Support to support our clients at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Where You'll Work:

The Y12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, TN, plays a vital role in the U.S. Department of Energy's Nuclear Security Enterprise. Y-12 provides manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise to produce components, subassemblies, and quality evaluations to sustain a U.S. nuclear deterrent; reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction; supply nuclear material to the Naval Reactors Program; and provide solutions to other emerging national security challenges. Y-12 has developed state-of-the-art capabilities in three core areas: nuclear technology and materials, security and consequence management, and manufacturing and technical services. Y-12 lends its specialized expertise to other federal agencies, such as the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, state and local governments, and private-sector companies. Projects at Y-12 include providing protective equipment to soldiers in combat, training National Guard units for radiological emergencies, and creating machining platforms that improve production and efficiency.

About the Role:

The subcontractor shall provide nuclear facility safety technical support services for the management of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear facilities at the Y-12 National Security Complex in accordance with 10 CFR 830 Subpart B and applicable standards such as DOE-STD-3009-94 and DOE-STD-[redacted].

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrated experience in the hazard identification, hazard screening, and hazard evaluation process; the accident and consequence analysis process; the selection of engineered and/or administrative controls credited for the prevention or mitigation of postulated accidents; and the documentation of the results of these processes in safety analysis reports, documented safety analyses, and technical safety requirements.
  • Familiar with technical issues raised by the United States Defense Nuclear Facility Safety Board pertaining to DOE nuclear facilities.
  • Experience and background to serve as a Lead Facility Safety Engineer in either 9212 or 9215 Complexes.
  • Experience at Y-12 developing safety basis documents.
  • Help train and mentor 3 to 5 new hire coming into FSE over the next 2 to 3 years.


Requirements:
  • BS Degree plus 15 or more years of direct experience with 10 or more years of DOE-specific experience Nuclear/Safety Analysis Engineering.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
  • Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.


Location/Work Arrangement:
  • This position is a fully onsite position at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
  • Typical work schedule will be Mon.-Thur. 10-hour days (4/10 schedule).
